i did not have a certified tech come out, but i did it myself. my receiver has isf certification so i tweaked it around a little and it made a considerable difference. my tv is a bit older so i always thought that it was at peak performance after having dialed it in over the years, but the isf made my blacks a little darker now the screen matches the black bars on the top and bottom of the screen instead of being a gray picture with black bars. my colors have a nicer pop to the now also especially the cyan. its made skin tones much more tolerable. good luck and let us know what he did

I had my Elite 111FD professionally calibrated last month. I'm very pleased with the results. I'm tending to watch the ISF-day mode most. Also had 1 input calibrated for B&W content only.

Playing with user adjustments is not an "ISF calibration/certification". Sure, you can get a relatively good picture with AVIA or DVE, but it won't compare to a true ISF calibration where non-user-adjustable settings are tweaked for optimum grey scale, color, etc.....

I had my audio and video system calibrated by Jeff Meier of Accucal about a month ago (http://www.accucal.org/). The results are simply amazng. Jeff has awesome skills and very expensive calibration equipment. He definitely knows his way around a home theater. Not only that, Jeff is very friendly and helpful when it comes to answering Home Theater questions. The result is Jeff turned my Kuro into a professional monitor. The adjustments he made to my audio system makes my B&W speakers sound really terrific too.

I strongly recommend the services of an ISF/THX Calibration professional to really dial in your home theater. I also recommend choosing an industry professional and Jeff is one of the best. I am dazzled every time I watch movies or listen to music on my Home Theater.

I would initially have called the original ISF calibrator and see what he/she recommended (I still would call and see what he/she has to say). Remember to be polite and corteous, everyone makes mistakes (besides me of course ).

Well it is possible, just very unlikely.

i realize my dorking around with the isf setting pails in comparison to a pro can do. i was trying to get the point across that the isf can make a nice difference.

I would not let Best Buy techs set my watch!! I used a man named Chad Billheimer. Great guy & he did a wonderful job.

It's a very worthwhile venture for those of us who want the best from what we have. Its hard to have 9G Pio's and not have them professionally calibrated. Saying I'm very happy with the results would be an understatement.

Unless you provide a little more info I don't think many can answer. What kind of a TV? What was not right? What did he say went wrong?

who did you have do the calibration? man that sucks i feel bad for ya. most things can be fixed in the service menu though. you can actually probably go online and find the exact settings for your tv's service menu. normally it is not recommended to go in there unless you know what you are doing as it will void warranties.....

if the new calibrator cannot fix it, i would go back to the company that screwed it up and go after a new tv
