Never heard of this before, but I'm into sci-fi, just took a look, sounds good, so will give this a shot.

Saw this on Blu recently. Scrappy, but inventive (for its low budget). Kind of a throwback, and has a bit of 'Firefly' western feel, but serious vs. funny.

Not sure how much 4K would benefit given the use of over-saturated green-ish/orange-ish color tones. And it has a shot-on-home video digital camera feel.

A few more thoughts after having watched this...

The movie is completely English friendly (except for coming without English subs). There's one scene with unintelligible, foreign dialogue which is subtitled as "unintelligible dialogue" with the German subtitle track. So you won't miss anything.

re. the elevated blacks on the BD: I took a look at the BD on the projector after having watched the UHD as well and the BD looks just off to me most of the time - it's way too milky IMO. Except for maybe some dark scenes during the end where the UHD looked borderline black crushed to me at times. But I could still see all of what's going. So maybe the BD is actually correct after all, but looks like crap black level wise. And maybe they realized this and decided to fix it as best as they could. Don't know. What I do know is that I'd pick the UHD over the BD's elevated blacks at any rate.

Mind you that this is coming from my poor-man's-SDR-projector-perspective. I also got a few markedly clipped highlights in SDR, but those should be gone (or at least shouldn't be worse than on the BD) when viewed properly.

Good assessment, Andreas. I personally found that the HDR was way too hot, but any downsides to the UHD are completely swept away by how bad the BD version is. There are moments on the UHD that genuinely look stunning.

I've seen the UK BD too, and it suffers from the same issues as the German disc.

Just want to say that this movie in 4K is gorgeous. HDR makes the greens deeper and there’s beautiful clarity on close-ups.
