A few more thoughts after having watched this...
The movie is completely English friendly (except for coming without English subs). There's one scene with unintelligible, foreign dialogue which is subtitled as "unintelligible dialogue" with the German subtitle track. So you won't miss anything. re. the elevated blacks on the BD: I took a look at the BD on the projector after having watched the UHD as well and the BD looks just off to me most of the time - it's way too milky IMO. Except for maybe some dark scenes during the end where the UHD looked borderline black crushed to me at times. But I could still see all of what's going. So maybe the BD is actually correct after all, but looks like crap black level wise. And maybe they realized this and decided to fix it as best as they could. Don't know. What I do know is that I'd pick the UHD over the BD's elevated blacks at any rate. Mind you that this is coming from my poor-man's-SDR-projector-perspective. I also got a few markedly clipped highlights in SDR, but those should be gone (or at least shouldn't be worse than on the BD) when viewed properly. Last edited by andreasy969; 08-04-2019 at 12:53 PM. I've seen the UK BD too, and it suffers from the same issues as the German disc. |
