Current Best Deal on Onkyo 705? - Blu-ray Forum

I was really leaning to getting the 605, but you all have me now thinking that the 705 is that much better? Which retailer has the best deal on this receiver? Also, is it easy to set up? The whole surround sound thing is new to me......

I bought mine yesterday at circuit city for $584.99.

Got it set up in 2 hours, love it, works great!

I got it from amazon for 600 plus 70 for shipping since I'm in hawaii and it's breeze to set up and works great. This is a buy that I don't plan on upgrading anytime soon.

Wow....$585.00? How did you get it for that price? I think my CC has it, but it is running ~$650 - $700.

OK....question! I just tried to order the 705 from the Circuit City web site, but it says product is not available for in store pick up, therefore it will not reward me the additional 10% off to get the price below $600. Can I just walk into the store and hand them the code, hoping they will add the 10% off?

Yes. I did this yesterday. Just point it out that its on sale for $649.99 on their web plus 10% for instore pickup. No troubles at all.

After almost coming close to getting the 705, I decided I didn't really need to spend the $600 and just ordered the 605 for $399 shipped from J&R. I figured that with the 10% off on the 705, it would be about $585, but then add tax on and the final price would come out to be about $630. Couldn't justify ~$230.00 more for the extra HDMI and 10 extra watts per channel. Anyways, I am very excited to receive my new receiver!!!!!!!

bought mine from J&R through amazon for 649 last friday then had them price match vanns.com on monday when I saw they had it for 599. Ended up being 579 since they beat the price from vanns.com. got it yesterday and i already love it, haven't had much time to play yet though, didn't want to wake up my 2 month of son.
