I've seriously been thinking about joining some branch. I think though that I would go with the Navy because it is what my dad was. How bad ass would it be to be a SeAL?

I was enlisted from 1996 to 2004. In a boot PFC, out a Sergeant of Marines. What would you like to talk about, Dogdvr?

Uxi,
So how was that boot camp experience? Last night we got our call letting us know that he had arrived safely. I guess I just wondering what he is going through right now.

Boot is a *****. I wasn't about to go home a ***** though. It's a lot of mind games. It definitely made me a man. Good time in the Corps.

First week or two, he'll be in a 'receiving company' just getting his uniforms and basic gear, not actually doing much training. Not even marching in formation or doing any real training yet. There's lots of stuff to get, paperwork to process, initial physical, etc. This period will culminate to an initial physical fitness test. If he passes, he'll go on to his permanent training platoon. If he fails, he'll go to Physical Conditioning Platoon to remdiate what failed (which is also where those are injured during training go to recuperate). I passed the first time though, and never got hurt, so am not sure exactly how PCP works on the inside.

So right now, he's mostly busy going from A to B on fairly long hours. Bedtime is pretty early (around 8 if I remember right). Rise at 5 or thereabouts. Part of the time period is to acclimate one to 3 full meals at a regular time. In between there will be some basic PT/excercise, but mostly as a prelude to what will be going for the next 10+ weeks.

Training itself isn't really going to happen until they go to their permanent training platoons, which is where it really starts getting interesting.

Thumbs up

Dogdvr,

I just want to say that it's great to see that you're a caring, loving and supportive dad. I think we need more parents out there like yourself....I'm grateful to have parents that are 100% supportive, so God Bless your son and family!!

And the best part about this thread being a Blu-Ray Forum, is that there's more to life than just High-Def:-)

And to all former Marines that have served our countryand are posting on this forum, thanks for your hard work and dedication!!! I salute you!!

And to all the parents/former Marines in this thread, good luck to your sons and God Bless!!
