Bloody Pit of Horror (1965) coming from Severin

Severin will release this infamous Sadean horror exercise that was definitely ahead of its time in 1965. They are promising a transfer from the Italian OCN, which would be the debut of that version in NTSC. Hopefully it will be uncut. English and Italian audio will be options, along with English subtitles.

The title is expected to be part of Severin's annual Black Friday sale.

Looks like we get the complete Italian cut (and from the negative, no less) with both the Italian and English soundtracks.

Extras seem a bit meagre, though. Personally I would have loved to see some of the alternative versions included for comparison, even if it had to be in SD, as they supposedly include bits of unique material, and the first US release re-arranges scenes.

Still this is much, much more than I ever expected to see on BD. Considering the releases on DVD, I had resigned to think that at most we would get one of the cut versions in English.

But new transfer? The full Italian version? Both the Italian AND the English soundtracks? Day one? I think so!

This bonus feature for BLOODY PIT OF HORROR was not completed before the manufacturing deadline, so sadly we had to leave it off the disc. Rather than the video not being used in any way, we wanted you all to get a chance to enjoy one of the greatest horror historians Italy has to offer wax poetic about a truly underappreciated masterpiece in the torture dungeon genre of Italian cinema. It even features some audio comments from the late director of the film, Massimo Pupillo.

I am a bit sad that they left it off the disc due to the manufacturing deadline, considering how often they have postponed other things and how long people have had to wait for their orders anyway. I mean, it is nice they make it available for free, but this should really have been on the disc. I really hope they did not drop it just to have the disc finished and in stock on Black Friday.

As soon as I saw the news of this release, you and one other member from R!S!P! came to mind. It's been a long wait, but it's finally receiving a release it deserves.

I’d check out clips first, or even the Rifftrax version, before a blind buy. I love a ton of ‘bad’ films but this one is too ‘bad’ even for me!
