42" Panasonic Plasma was also rated best overall TV by consumer reports. Dont know your lighting situation in your home but I love my plasma. I have my setup in a basement so no lighting issues. right now they have some on sale for about $1400.

Sony KDL-40XBR4 is a fantastic television, 120 Hz. Great contrast ratios and picture quality. Unsure how much it might be in the Isles, since it is $2000 American here.

Philips 42PFL7432 is one I will recommend too, might be more in your price range at $1300 American.

I recommend Sony's XBR 4/5. I am not sure of the price in your neck of the woods but you can buy the XBR4 for less than $2000 here in the US.

It's annoying how they put 1080p ready on some TV's. It dosent mean though it's full HD.

It just means that it has a 1080i chip that can upscale to 1080p at a push.

I don't think thats fair on average consumers there the ones that don't read up on this stuff.

TV's used to be easy lol

Sorry i like to rant

Cheers for your help

Not sure I'm catching you, the v2500 and v3000 are FullHD 1080p. They just do not display at 24fps. They are still very good TVs.

Oh i no don't get me wrong it's a bit stupid to buy a TV without 24p i think.

I was just saying that a full HD TV it is on the specs as full HD. But companys still say on the specs of other HD TV's that they are 1080p to try to fool ppl into thinking there full HD when there not.

They have 1080i chips. Like my current TV can do 1080i but in truth it's a 720p screen for example.

Just as an FYI-there is alot of debate about the 24p vs 60p. I dont think IMHO that its that HUGE of a difference. I have no motion blur when I watch sports (fast moving motion) and I have a 720p low end 42" plasma. Just make sure you dont get caught up in the "Hype". 2 each is own.

I think you are speaking of native resolution.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_resolution

I don't have 24p, wouldn't mind having it, but I don't. Didn't fit in my budget at the time. I think you can still have very good picture without 24p....
