In light of what happened to one of our members, I would like to know if anyone else out there has been a robbery victim themselves.
I used to work at McDonalds when I was 16, and one night after closing the place, a guy with a gun jumped out of the bushes and made myself and 3 other co-workers (including the manager) go back inside. He made the manager re-open the safe, but not before she screwed up the combination twice. The guy started to get real restless, eventually holding the gun against my head telling her to hurry up or he would blow my head off. She eventually opened the safe and he took the bag and ran. Thankfully no one was hurt. They caught the guy a week later, but not before he held up a gas station and killed an attendant. ![]() ![]() The point of this thread is to realize how lucky we are sometimes, even in times when things go bad or something bad happens to us. Things could always be worse. I guess it all becomes a matter of perspective. So, anyone else out there been robbed and would like to share their story? |

I've had my car cleaned out before, they did over 3k worth of damage breaking into my acura. Ah! I actually baited them again since the cops wouldn't do anything about it. I had a group of guys with bats waiting and we chased them out. They drove away though, that was it. I've had to load my gun a few times at our old house due to punks, they were going around trying to break into houses. I told them to come on in (basically telling them they'd get a mouthful of lead), yelling at them through the door as I cocked my shotgun. They ran away. I had already called the cops, but you gotta be ready. Cops just clean up. Last edited by Deadset; 09-18-2009 at 02:58 PM. |

Back in the 80's came home from school and find our apartment in Queens NY broken into...TV, VCR and some of my mom jewelery gone the apt was a mess what ever they could have taken for the time there were in there they took...
Early 2000 ...CD changer stolen from my car, they pop the trunk and just took it everything else was there... Working in retail, I have seen my share of shoplifters pushing some car air freshers in there pocket or a bottle of Armor All down there pants.... |

Twice same car was broken into. Civic 96.
When I would visit my wife when she was at UF. Someone broke into my car and stole about 200 cd's, this is back when we didn't have Ipods and stuff. The worse part is I just bought a 500 dollar R/C truck I only ran once that was in the trunk. The second is when we first got married and lived in apt. Stole more cd's, radio and a gold ring. |

Not in my adult life, but as a child, our house was broken into while we were on vacation.
I recall being very scared when we came home. Felt very violated, even as a young kid. The f'ers even stole my little piggy bank, that probably had a very small amount of change in it. The police found out who did it (a neighbor a few blocks away), but nothing was recovered. No, it just raises questions about your intelligence if you saw it once, didn't like it, then paid to see it two more times. I bet you even have the DVD... |

When I was younger my brother left the front door open at my dads house and someone wandered in while we were sleeping and took my dad and his girlfriends money out of their wallets.
Also my dad's house was burgularized when I was like 14. They stole all my video games and guns. Luckily the police recovered most of it when my dad caught the kids that did it coming back for more. And when I was working at hollywood video I had some scammers come in and rent games, after they left I had noticed they were acting weird and I looked on the game shelves and noticed the cases for the 4 games they rented were missing. Luckily I caught on to them quick because I looked outside and noticed they were at the Blockbuster across the street doing the same thing. I called Blockbuster and warned them, and they refused to rent to them, then the guy had the balls to come back over to my store and cuss me out. I told him I expected the games back on friday and to leave or I would call the cops. He left and of course the games never came back. Also the guy knew nothing about games and rented games that were like 5 years old and would fetch no money if he sold em. Funny in the end I guess. |

as a young immature teenager i was robbed with my friends while skipping school. the school academically was the best in the city as far as what it offered (IB/AP/etc) but was located in and around bad neighborhoods. back then name brand clothing was popular in school with things like tommy hilfiger/polo/timberland/etc (you know you had them too). it was kind of funny because one of my friends just got a new pair of timberland boots and he made some comment like "if someone wants to mess with us they are going to have to talk to Tim" meaning his boots. so we walked up a busy road going to mcdonalds and this guy comes up with a gun telling us to give him money. i was a kid with just a few bucks here and there no wallet so i just gave it to him. he then asked me to take my jacket off and boy was a i pissed. i had a thin tommy hilfiger anorak and my buddy had a tommy hilfiger fleece lined nylon jacket. i clearly thought HIS jacket was better than mine but the robber took mine. either way we were all safe and didn't get hurt other than our feelings. pretty much never skipped school on foot again. afterwards we asked my friend where was Tim at while we were getting robbed. we all look back at it and laugh at the hilarious "talk to Tim" comment and how stupid we were.

My family owned a jewelry store when I was a kid. One time the store was robbed at gunpoint, and my grandmother and aunt and the employees there were made to lie down at gunpoint. Another time, two men went to the home of the watchmaker and kidnapped him and his wife; left their kids sleeping in their beds. They took them to the store and made them unlock it and robbed it. The watchmaker and his wife were able to give the police enough info about the kidnappers that they were caught. One had a spiral notepad with the address of everyone that had keys... including my parents.

My parents house has been broken into three times in 29 years. Once when I was little, then again as a teenager, then again this year.
My car has been broken into at a Sheriff monitored metro station. There was an apology note from the Sheriff that said: "Looks like your car got broken into. Sorry. Feel free to see a deputy to file a report." When I was in the parking lot the next day I saw a deputy in the parking lot watching a portable DVD player. The last time they broke into my parents house, they tried to steal their safe. They didn't realize it is reinforced with concrete. It's weird to because my parents live in a really nice part of LA. |
