Default Harmony 1 Problem

I have a PS3 and Directv box running two hdmi cables to my Yamaha RXV863BL Reciever, and then one hdmi out of the reciever to the tv. My issue is anytime I want to use the ps3 or directv box i will hit the correct button my remote, it turns everything on and sets everything to the correct input except my tv. The tv will flash that its on hdmi 1 and then turn to channel 4 for some reason. Now I just got this receiver about 3 weeks ago and it started when I got the new reciever. I had a home theater in the box before but was not using just hdmi cables for my connections and everything was working fine. for me to get back to the hdmi 1 input I have to grab the remote for the tv and change the input to hdmi 1 which is listed as choice #4 in the pop up menu. Has anyone on here had an issue like this happening to them.

I didn't rename the inputs on my tv. I have always left them on the default names. When I get home from work tonight I will check the settings for each activity. the crazy thing is that it the tv starts up on hdmi 1 and displays the image on the screen for about 3 seconds then it autmoatically goes to channel 4 and brings up a snowy screen. So it does work for a few seconds I just can't figure out why the tv goes to a snowy screen afterwards.

Here is how everything is set up.

TV Inputs:

1 TV

2 Component 1

3 Component 2

4 HDMI 1

5 HDMI 2

6 HDMI 3

7 HDMI 4 GAME

8 Video 1

9 Video 2 GAME

0 PC

How the devices are connected:

PS3: HDMI to reciever (DVD IN1)

HDDVR: HDMI to reciever (DVR IN3)

Both Devices: HDMI out to TV (HDMI 1)

Watch TV:

Reciever powers on then tv then HDDVR

PS3:

Reciever powers on then tv, then i physically turn the ps3 on.

I have tried changing the order of how the devices are powered on trying all possible choices and still nothing works. Not sure why it used to work before I got the reciever and now it doesn't work. The only thing I could think of was since I am sending the hdmis into the reciever and then 1 out to the tv this could be causing the problem, but I know there are tons of other people out there that are doing it the exact way I am. I also just noticed by using the help feature on the remote when it asks me if the tv is set to hdmi 1 input and I say no, it will change to channel 44.

I also have this posted on logitechs forum to try and figure this problem out.

That's very strange, indeed. An easy fix might be to add an additional command to each activity that sets the television back to HDMI. Have you tried this?

its crazy you have this problem...

sometimes for no reason my TV (via Harmony 1) will change to channel 4 for no reason.

Im also having an issue with my Harmony 1 controlling my PS3 and BDP-S350.

Sorry if I missed it, but, what make is your TV? It sounds as though the Harmony has the wrong code to bring up the Input Selection Menu, but is selecting input 4 from the list anyways. When you go through the set-up, verify to see if your TV is one of the ones with a specific input selection sequence, such as Samsung or Toshiba. Alternatively, you may be able to disable the channel tuning keys through your TV menu, and then the command for number 4 would be ignored. You TV never needs to change input, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I sold my harmony one due to it not working correctly on numerous things. I ended up using the hk avr-354 setting for my hk avr-254 to get it to work right for an example (the 254 is available to add for this remote fyi but nothing worked right button wise). I'm holding out on a philips universal remote that is due out soon. Otherwise I might get some other harmony/something else. Which is too bad...the harmony one was a great looking remote.

Not that I can help, but I thought I would give you a little humour to help.

The LG blu-ray player and HTiB's this year had the same power on infrared commands. So, setting a Harmony with both those devices created a similar result to yours. It was only humourous the first 100 times, then I just gave up trying to find a way to only turn one on at a time. Customers were informed that the blu-ray player would be on, period. So, at least it's not a problem with every single one of your activities!

yeah, i may just have to retire one or the other. Ive got two PS3's anyways.

Its just odd because the PS3 is controlled by the IR4PS3 which is not even sony issued. So im curious as to why it would pick up the sony IR code? I would think it would be unique.

It may be more a problem of it converting too many IR signals to bluetooth. Have you tried having the remote manually learn the power sequence from the remote? Sometimes database entries contain multiple power on codes to cover more than one player; maybe just teaching it your remote's power on function will avoid the problem? I don't know, just a thought.

I guess there is no way to change the IR command the IR4PS3 accepts? I wonder if the new logitech device will use the same IR command or if you can customize it...

I recall that when setting up my One I had to tell it which input the TV needed to be on. Perhaps that's the problem and you could redo the setup. If it isn't, then switch to "devices", turning each of them on and off, all while the TV is on. See if some other signal is overlapping with that command on your TV.

If this problem persists you could set one of the soft buttons to correct the solution. That way you wouldn't have to reach for the TV remote every time.

Good luck.

Is there a way to program a delay in the startup routine of the remote? The TV might be sensing that there is no input on the HDMI port and kicking over to the internal tuner. Try and set a delay in the macro so that the TV doesn't kick on until after the receiver is on 100%, (all relays kicked in).

Yes, delay can be introduced.

How do I adjust the delay of the tv from starting up? After reading that, I bet if i set it to delay for like 20 seconds it should give the receiver and the directv box enough time to power on and set themselves to the right inputs so the tv can sense there is a single coming in from the hdmi 1 input.

I can't recall offhand, but I know in the setup you're able to set a delay between signals in the setup software. I don't know if you can delay 20 seconds though. As I recall it was in milliseconds.
