User SB0780, who seems to have some knowledge of the industry, has confirmed that Warner will release 13 catalogue titles in 2022.
Sure are probably: Poltergeist Lost Boys The Green Mile he has excluded: Bullitt Dirty Harry Box Deliverance The Exorcist Papillon The Outlaw Josey Wales Superman II Creepshow Lethal Weapon Box Set The Fugitive Twister Neverending Story Amadeus Training Day The Last Samurai Which films do you think it could be? There would still be 10 titles left I could imagine: North by Northwest Rebel without a Cause Gone with the Wind Doctor Zhivago Ben Hur The Color Purple Empire of the Sun Eyes Wide Shut are also all listed so far with 4K DCP at Park Circus other desired titles would be: Barry Lyndon The Departed Casablanca Falling Down Christmas Vacation One flow over the C. Last Boy Scout Demolition Man Under Siege Gremlins 2 Nightmare on Elm Street Once Upon a Time in America |

Must resist... temptation to bring up... the Director's Cut of Blade Runner...
That aside, a UHD of Gone with the Wind would be lovely. It still baffles me that WB snubbed it for its 80th anniversary. |

Singin in the Rain turns seventy next year, so here's hoping. I've said it before: WB seem strangely adverse to releasing their golden oldies on UHD (aside from The Wizard of Oz), but given the amount of big modern titles SB has shot down, it doesn't leave a lot of leg room.
I do think Eyes Wide Shut is a given. Another year, another WB Kubrick title getting the upgrade. |

unfortunately, these titles were excluded by the user in question, as is also stated above. I cannot understand "Lethal Weapon" in particular. With "Exorcist", the anniversary in 2023 will probably be taken into account. |

My guess for some of the other 10 are.
The departed Ben Hur The color purple Eyes wide shut These next ones are just hopefull ones haha. Gran torino The assassination of Jesse James Mystic river I know some of these aren't anniversaries. But maybe covid delayed them. They don't always come out on an anniversary as well Last edited by Prisonbmichael; 09-15-2021 at 01:56 PM. |

Ben Hur and North By Northwest make a lot of sense so I expect to see those.
The Departed, Demolition Man, and Nightmare on Elm Street would be awesome too. |

I'm hopeful we get some deeper catalog titles. I've been bemoaning how weak WB's pre-1980 4K game has been. George Feltenstein has hinted at some more pre-80s WB titles for 4K so here's hoping for some of their bigger classics.

Casablanca is the most likely as it was already brought to 4K in the last master (which looked superb) and I hope (but am pretty sure it wouldn't happen) it would have a restored mono that sounds better than the overscrubbed one currently available.
Of the supposed excluded titles: Bullitt, Dirty Harry, Superman II, Lethal Weapon Box Set, The Fugitive Oh, you tease me. All of these are due for improvements. Bullitt most of all as the master is old, trims frames from the car chase and most infuriatingly the film's original mono was only ever on the very, VERY first video release and quickly replaced by a fake stereo mix. Dirty Harry suffered the same fate. A spiffy SII would be great with perhaps possible tech upgrades to the Donner cut. The Fugitive remastered disc was a step up as was the Lethal Weapon box but that really rubbed me the wrong way with some of the color timing which had a bit of the same issue that plagued the new masters of the Superman Anthology BD set. A UHD properly color timed of Lethal Weapon would probably make mouths water. North by Northwest Rebel without a Cause Gone with the Wind Doctor Zhivago Ben Hur The Color Purple Empire of the Sun Eyes Wide Shut are also all listed so far with 4K DCP at Park Circus These are WB heavy hitters that have all had big SE reissues and restorations so I can see them happening. N by NW and GWTW will definitely happen , probably Ben Hur and Rebel too. The Spielberg titles perhaps someday as they get treated more like award winners for special markets. Zhivago and EWS are two of my most desired for new transfers. Zhivago could look incredible and really show off it's unique "35mm dressed up to look like 70mm but it isn't and so it's beautifully one of a kind". And EWS on disc currently still looks NOTHING like the release prints. NOTHING. Being a grain lover and finally getting to see one of these mythical prints was absolute heaven. Grain and bold primary colors as far as the eye could see. other desired titles would be: Barry Lyndon-mouth waters Last Boy Scout-Geez yes. Once Upon a Time in America-A must to get rid of the awful new color timing applied to the not accurate director's cut in name only with that degraded footage put in. They should have proper color timing, both versions included and the original mono which has been missing since LD and VHS. (and blows away the 5.1 remix) |
