Post Alan Wake (2010) - Remaster in the works

https://www.psu.com/news/alan-wake-p...ster-in-works/

I know this is old news but I thought I create a thread. I'm currently replaying it through Parallels and it's still a great game.

Ironically tomorrow marks the 10th Year Anniversary. I swear I didn't start replaying it because it released this month 10 years ago. Talk about a major coincidence!

Started off great but got too weird for me. I loved the atmosphere and setting though.

This looked like it’s right up my alley, I bought a 360 to play it, but I didn’t like at all

Good to see PS owners will finally get to play this great game. One of my favorites from the 360 era. Hopefully this will sell well and encourage Remedy to make a sequel.

Indeed it does and if I remember correctly, the 2nd DLC for Control will be a story tie-in to Alan Wake.

Yup. I remember having the 360 for this as well as for Dead Rising because of their exclusivity but I was never a fan of the Xbox per say, I had to get the system replaced at some point due to the 3 rings of death. I then gave away my fully working 360 as I was never going to use it but I kept my Collector's Edition of Alan Wake and just randomly thought about replaying which I am now on the PC, technically on Mac running PC.

If I remember correctly as well, I don't think that has actually been 100% confirmed, but it would be shocking if it wasn't at this point. I think it's at least expected to be that given that it's called AWE (even though I think it stands for Altered World Events).

Given how much I loved Control, I'll definitely get this when the time comes as I passed on it when it was released on the 360.

I bought it day 1 for 360, still under the false impression that Alan Wake was an open world game set in the pine forests of the west. I didn't know Remedy decided to scrap the whole open world concept for a linear game. I was so disappointed by that. The game itself was interesting, but the shadow people were so cheap with their attacks, the game was unfair in many ways. I lost interest halfway through unfortunately.

Yes that was a huge blow when i found out this wasn't to be open world after all. It has such a great setting that open world would really have been something. For me this game started off great but once it got lost in the whole what is real and what is just in his head weird stuff i kind of lost interest.

I either just forgot about that or didn't trigger it in my first playthrough. I'm playing it again now, so maybe this time.

Control was a cool game but i gave up on it, too difficult for me with no setting to change the difficulty. It was really fun to play though.

A reminder that Alan Wake is backwards compatible for Xbox One. I think it was pulled from the store, but I see copies at used places, mainly pawnshops, on the cheap. Just a heads up for those that don't know.

I had a great time with this game, the DLCs and even American Nightmare on 360. I just really liked the gameplay loop of burning off the Taken's darkness before shooting them. I'd buy this remaster in a heartbeat.

I honestly thought this was 100% an Xbox exclusive so having it come to PS4 is interesting but hopefully they also have in mind next gen consoles because it will definitely help it goa longer way.

Agreed. That fact was hardly mentioned until the game was released, where I had to discover for myself that it wasn't open world as it was described on the very inaccurate Amazon Product Page description back then.

Here's an excerpt from the description on there to this day. Unbelievable how this is allowed, as it's describing it like an open world game. Total BS description below as the game was linear as heck.
In the original open world game, the towers were going to be home bases, but in the final game, it was just a temporary spot to visit during the linear mission. There was also a car you could drive down a hill for a brief section I remember. The potential of this game was awesome for open world, and then they reversed it completely to linear level designs.

Explore an Entire Town
The town of Bright Falls is 100 square kilometers, and players will be able to roam through this incredibly detailed area any way they like, roaming the town or wandering out to the lakes, forest, satellite towns, and more. The game gives the player goals, but how he chooses to go about completing them is up to him. Clues are scattered throughout the town, and solving mysteries will require players to pay close attention to the little details.

It made it’s way unto PC in 2012 though. After that happening it lost it’s Xbox exclusivity.
