with what? cutting prices even further? or are they going to bail out?

I remember reading somewhere here that Toshiba reported losses around $350 million USD for it's HD DVD division. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Edit: These are projections, but with Toshiba's new pricing it's only going to be worse next quarter.

If they are going to mindlessly throw HUGE chunks of cash away, Why don't they donate some to me... "We'll even call it a charity, heck" Then they'll at least get a tax break.

think of how many starving children they could have fed. what a shame. they knew pretty much Q1 of last year HD DVD was going to die, even after the Paramount decision, I think they knew it was going to die, they just wasted a ton of money.

For $150 million I'd announce my HD DVD support. I'd still own and buy Blu-ray... but hey, I'm sure everyone at Paramount has a BD player too.

Yeah, she's about as funny as Baghdad Bob. I'll give her credit for one thing though, she does what Toshiba pays her to do. Even if the facts make her look downright stupid.

DVD sales have been declining for the past 2 years so they know that revenue stream has peaked. It almost seems that the execs. are not wanting to do what is necessary to be profitable whether they are idiots or just getting misinformation from their people to make a good decision.
