Default Will Stargate Atlantis ever be on Blu-ray?

The only news i have heard about this series is that it is getting released on DVD, but like many other Blu-ray owners, i have abandoned DVD for Blu-ray and do not want to have to buy movies on anything else.

Just wonder if anyone has heard anything about this at all?

I believe Sony Pictures has the rights to it, so it should come out on Blu...someday.

I'm actually surprised at the number of time its been asked for around these boards. If someone out there is listening, I would think you fans would get it pretty quick!

MGM owns the rights, it was planned at one point and then killed in the transition back to Fox

MGM has basically put all their HD stuff on hold for the moment, I'd expect the next set to come in Blu, no no word on the previous 3 season but would likely depend on sales of 4

Yeah, seems like it will be a while before anything will be announced though!

Oh well, will just have to play the waiting game (like always)

I don't really understand what happened with the Sony/MGM/Fox situation, but looking back it seems like giving Fox the distribution rights has only hurt Blu ray.

I think Sony should have held onto them.

Anyway, yes, I do think they will come. When? That I don't know. I could see the next season being released on Blu. Hard to say about back seasons.

The other investors in the MGM purchasing partnership didn't like Sony having so much control over such a huge aspect of the company. MGM was distributing through Fox before the buy

Okay. Thanks for the info. It was all rather confusing, as I'd assumed Sony purchased them specifically to make them release Blu only and I swear I read the info about MGM distro switching to Fox after the buy. Do they at least have the power to stop Fox from releasing MGM content on HD-DVD (not that it would ever happen)?
