Stargate Atlantis on Blu-ray?

Hi guys i have found this article on gateworld.net about Stargate Atlantis being the first television series released on Blu-ray. I have not seen anything about this since i read the article and am wondering if anybody knows what happened to it. Thanks

Stargate Atlantis will become the first television series released on Blu-ray, one of two competing next generation, high-definition DVD formats, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announced today. The complete series (presumably all of Seasons One and Two) is being readied for a summer 2006 release.

I had hopes when I saw Stargate Atlantis on Universal HD, but I was hesitant.

Still am honestly, given that it was in 1080i format there, still that's a decidely larger step up than say, 480p .

Heh, ya, I'm hoping that they decide to release at least Season 10 of SG-1 in a similar format, although I doubt it'll happen , hopes with the movies at least though.

Only thing I feel like pointing out, does Gateworld not count the Sopranos as a television series?

There won't be a Stargate Atlantis Season 1 from Sony, they don't have the rights anymore, it is an MGM franchise and will be released and distributed by Fox.

I just wanted to find out if their was any boxset series coming out on Blu-Ray I would love to be able to get Stargate and Lost on blu-ray!

Any ideas when this might happen?

Lol, I asked this same question when I became a member. I would love to see Stargate SG-1 & Stargate Atlantis on Blu-ray. I just wish they would give a release date and maybe Fox can give one too for 24 Season 1.

I know this is very old news, so maybe MGM went back to Fox after this was made.
