I hope it comes in their standard Scanavo packaging. I wasn't really a fan of how the Blu-Ray was packaged, lol.

Lol yeah Dawn of the Discs. I'd be wary of anything "announced" by them. They're not industry insiders.

If this comes true maybe I’ll pick it up. I wasn’t a fan of this movie, Dawn of the Dead is much better.

Source is The Digital Bits, who heard from “industry insiders” that Criterion has been working on a UHD release of this, likely intended for their October slate. We’ll see!

This would be cool. Incidentally, the Criterion blu was one of the first discs I ever bought after upgrading to a OLEDE8 in 2018. It was my first really nice TV and NOLD was one of the first movies I watched on it that I was really familiar with. I remember being blown away by how much better a movie could look on a nice setup and it's part of the reason I ended up becoming a hopeless UHD lunatic. Also, it was the first time I ever noticed Judith O'Dea's chipped tooth.

Right? I hated how flimsy that packaging was. I'd be so overjoyed if this turns out to be true and it comes in a standard Scavano case. But how many 4ks have Criterion released that weren't digipacks so far? 2? 3? Cross fingers lol.

And for the love of god, Criterion, please don't put your essay behind a fold out poster this time! To this day, I still think this is the weirdest decision of all time when it comes to packaging.

Only 5 of the 16 released 4K titles have been in digipacks.

On a sidenote, why was this thread even created when all this is based of a rumor from TheDigitalBits?

The real question is will it contain a Crayola version?

I'm more interested in Criterion getting ahold of the 1990 version as well.

These fake announcements are so ridiculous:
  1. Someone posts a rumor on the blu-ray.com forum
  2. Then The Digital Bits publishes the rumor but credits it to "industry sources" and Dawn of the Discs/TheDiscFather tweet out "***NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT***"
  3. Then someone on blu-ray.com forum creates a thread for the "announcement" citing The Digital Bits/Dawn of the Discs/TheDiscFather

Geez, didn't know the source was so flimsy. These really should be in the rumoured threads, we get excited for no reasons. :/

Part of me feels as though this is actually a very likely UHD for their October slate, I just don't trust Dawn of the Discs.

Dawn of the Discs obviouly culls most (if not all) of his 'announcements' from this very site, but he seems like a nice enough guy.
