The Abyss - Blu-ray Forum

Simply put, I was watching the Abyss on DirectTV last night and was wondering anyone heard anything about this on Blu? Would be a good film to own.

Haven't heard anything about a Blu-release. It is rather odd that this historic film has never had a proper DVD release (the existing 2-disc lacks anamorphic enhancement, for reasons unknown) -- to say nothing of a Blu-Ray release.

We'll get it eventually.

I don't understand, Abyss is not a historical film, it's a Sci-Fi film if we are talking about the James Cameron movie.

Anyways I hope they release the director's cut and I might just get it.

"Historic," not "historical."

I'd get this in a second, assuming it was the director's cut (and really, how could it not be). The non-anamorphic DVD is really about as nice-looking as it gets for that kind of thing, but I'm ready for the next step, for realz.

This is one I've been patiently awaiting. The director's cut of this film would be a must buy for me.

The laserdisc version rocks... And to actually film underwater pushed the actors to the limits and edge.

It sure does! I still have the AC3/THX special edition from '96.

I'll still believe this when I see it, but this is hopefully good news. Disney needs to step up to the plate.
