So um one of my favorite horror genres is creature horror movies and I've seen a lot of them. I've found most of yhe creature horror flicks i've watches good but some of them were absolutely terrible in a so bad it's good way or just super boring. I also own some of them and also I'm including alien horror as a part of this genre.
Ones I own and love are these ones Grizzly doing a rewatch this year Jaws C.H.U.D Alligator Alien AVP Orca Razorback Tremors arriving today Willard arriving next week The Stuff Deep Star Six The Birds The Mist Dog Soldiers The Howling Bad Moon The Blob getting delivered later today Wolfen Ones I've seen on streaming, tv, or rented dvds I enjoy too are these flicks Pirahna The Bone Snatcher The Thing THEM Cloverfield Leviathan Lily C.A.T. Wicked City Demon City Shinjuku Terror Vision Killer Clowns From Outer Space Tremors The Nest The Terror Within Monkey Shines probably going to buy this one at some point Ones I watched and didn't like or found so bad it's good Frogs Killer Crocodile I also own this on Blu Ray the only one from this list I own Shakma honestly I practically hated this film found it super boring The Swarm Scared To Death Bog very very boring film Devilfish yawn Grizzly Rage Jaws 3D Jaws the Revenge Cruel Jaws Anyways what other Killer creature titles should I both buy on Blu Ray and also watch too? As obviously some of these titles I'm going to buy at some point physically. Also what are some of your suggestions for creature horror Blu Rays to buy? Just wondering Last edited by Watershipdownisgood; 02-27-2024 at 06:21 AM. |

Well, obviously there's all the big ones like The thing, The Blob, American werewolf in London, etc. but if we go into much smaller ones (seeing as you enjoyed C.H.U.D. and deep star six, two movies I love), i'd recommend Rawhead rex and The Being. Both have great monster designs and are a lot of fun, especially Rawhead rex. If you're interested in werewolf movies, Bad moon is a great under appreciated movie.
Also, seeing as you liked Alligator, i'd recommend Rogue, imo the best of all the alligator/ croc movies. More recently, Crawl and The shallows were both really good too. Edit: Hadn't thought about the older monster movies like Rzzz's list, which has some really good ones. I'd add the Monster that challenged the world and also The crawling eye (which unfortunately doesn't have a blu ray release here but has one in Germany and is also available on youtube for that matter). I'd second The deadly mantis, it's often dismissed but imo is one of the better ones from the 50's with some terrific fx! Last edited by fred25_Ca; 02-26-2024 at 03:22 AM. |

I started watching Rawhead Rex a couple years ago before I started working at Walmart but turned it off right when my mom got home as she hates horror movies as it's not a genre she likes. Also yeah being 27 and working a full time job at Walmart while also still living with your parents is pretty normal for some people including me of course.

Ah Birdemic I've seen clips from it and it's so hilariously bad but the random song where Tippi Hedren dances in a small night club is so entertaining and pretty catchy. Also I actually know about some of these titles not all of them of course but I am planning on buying Tarantula, Willard, and Night of the Lepus the rest of these titles are unfamiliar to me.

If you like Kawajiri (Demon City Shinjuku, Wicked City) I'd recommend looking up his other works - Vampire Hunter D, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Ninja Scroll, Bio-Hunter (though this one isn't on Blu-ray).
Someone already mentioned it, but Humanoids from the Deep is a classic exploitation creature film. Some of the themes might be off-putting to some but looks like you could handle it based on some of the films you've mentioned seeing. One of my favorites. |

Oh, another is Peter Benchley's The Beast.
https://www.amazon.com/Beast-Two-Dis...ps%2C80&sr=8-3 It's based on a (great) book by the author of Jaws. It's essentially Jaws but with a giant Squid. They made a very fun 90's mini series and it holds up really well with great FX. The blu ray is trash and sold for a fortune (mind you, I still bought it haha) but you can get the dvd for really cheap. Well worth it! MV5BMTY3NjIzNDYxMV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNzE0NTgxMQ@@._V1_.jpg |

As far as "straight-up" animal horror films go...
"Pre-1970": ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 1970s: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 1980s: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 1990s: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As for other "Creature Features" and Werewolf movies: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Hopefully you have actually seen and/or own some of the "heavy hitters" listed here already? ![]() I'm sure that a number of these releases are out of print by now but then again, you never know what's lurking about eBay or your local record store... at a reasonable "used" price... ![]() |
