Default set-up and advice

Hey gang. I realize this is a noobish type thread, so I believe it belongs in the noob discussion.
I currently own a KDS-50A2000, Full HD Sony tv. Unfortunatly I have no idea where this tv stands on the current quality of tv's. So basically im asking you guys to rate my tv, I believe its pretty good, but I want to hear from the pros (most of the posters here seem to be quite intelligent anyways).
Next, I was wondering what you guys would reccomend for my next step. Im looking to ''pimp'' my audio because I currently dont have any speakers besides the one on the tv itself. So if someone could guide me towards what would be a good way to go for speakers that would be great (at a ''reasonable'' amout of $).
Lastly, I was wondering if anyone knows what settings my tv is best on and/or how it should be collaborated to get the most out of my tv.
Thanks in advance everyone, I realise this is probably very noobish, but we all gotta start somewhere.

First give a good read: **Calibrate Your HDTV**

Second, just to hold you over until you can calibrate it yourself (which is best)...check out:

SONY: Share Your Custom Display Settings

and for an affordable complete HDMI sound system that you would not reget:

Onkyo HT-SR908 ($760)

Personally, I believe a professional calibration is best, if you can afford it. They have access to factory menus that the consumer can not get to. Machies are more accurate than the human eye. Then, you can say for certain...that's the way it's suppose to look (at least as close as your TV can get to accurate).

ISF certified people is the better way to go.

These are the reviews for your TV.

The next step is to get a receiver if you don't have one. After that you should get speakers.

Hsu Research has very good speaker package deals. The prices are from $500 to $2400.

Also take a look at the thread on Audio Calibration. It has good diagrams for 5.1, 6.1, and 7.1 speaker setup.

Default Audio Setup

When it comes to audio settings I'm lost. I bought the Ps3 back in november, I've had a Pioneer VSX-D81OS Tuner for several years. I'm using an optical cable for audio.

1. Does the PS3 support the highest Audio outputs?
2. What do I need for the highest Audio outputs?
3. What is the difference between Lossless, TrueHD, and PCM? Which is the best, and how would I achieve that sound with a PS3?

THANKS!!

There is a thread that answers most of your questions. To get the best sound out of PS3, you need to have a receiver that has an HDMI input. You have to connect the PS3 to the receiver with an HDMI cable. Optical will give you satisfactory results, but remember that Dolby Digital and DTS are lossy formats. With the new lossless sound you get much better results. However, if you do not have a good receiver and high quality speakers, you won't hear the difference.

ISF certification is the way to go if:

a) you can afford it. It's not cheap.
b) you are not moving anywhere or not planning to move the TV anywhere else. Room lighting takes into play during calibration.
c) your HDTV is relatively new and is not dying on you. If the HDTV is on its last breath, well that's throwing good money over bad.
d) your HDTV is mid- to high-quality set. For cheap sets, the simple calibration tools on DVDs and BDs are just fine.

If your HDTV is part of video displays for video editing or other professional use, then of course. This is so that what you are seeing will be what your clients/broadcasters will be seeing. This also means that your set would be a high-quality set.
