One more sees the light...However, there are a couple of companies that appear impotent and uncapable of making the right, sensible decision. Now it is time for K. Graffeo to take the Blu pill

adv is like one of the greatest anime companies we have in america with their good dubbing so to have ADV on board with blu will be very awesome. i just hope they charge more like Funimation and Sony's prices and not like Bandai's prices

You guys beat me too it. I'll go edit my post! LOL

Edit But yeah, I'm happy if this is true.

If the whole 'delayed titles' causing fear that ADV was going under earlier this week really was all a misunderstanding, and the truth is they were all delayed to prepare Blu releases instead is true, I would be SOOO happy.

I was looking forward to getting Gurren Lagann in a couple weeks, but if I have to wait a little while to get in on Blu instead? Sign me up!!!

Make no mistake, ADV is in major trouble, and it's been bad for quite a long time

Whether they can pull out of that, we have yet to see

I do know they've been dumping even recent catalog titles like hot potatoes on RightStuff for pennies on the dollar (10 for $50 sales?)

Well, rightstuf has those sales all the time. About once a year, sometimes twice. They do one for each studio. And its almost always 'older' stuff, nothing thats been released in the last year.

Usually...

I agree though that the anime industry is in a weird place right now. It's definitely scary.

I cant say that the rightstuf sale is a sign of it though.

Yeah, there's a lot of stuff in there that's been released recently, and it's never THIS low.

There are a few dealers that go to the cons that serve as liquidators at those prices, but it's all stuff that's a few years old

And ADV always does these sales themselves. If RS is selling them for $5, then they're buying them for under $4. That's probably under ADV's cost on those discs by the time you factor in everything

Manga might have the rights to the new eva movies because they did the American distribution for the first 2 all those years ago. Eva is a really expensive series and if ADV really is having a money troubles I don’t think they can afford to bring the new 4 movies to the states. Here’s to hope that it comes out in Japan on blu with English subs.

Actually, the only other sale like this that Rightstuf has done was for Geneon, before they imploded. They did the sale twice for them. Now for ADV. Take from that what you will, but I see it as another sign of them being in need of cash NOW, and willing to lose most of the profit on older titles in order to recoup costs. I hope they can fix this, cause they've got some series going now I really want to collect (or already started), but we'll have to wait and see. Man, I feel bad about the US anime market right now. To think I had hoped to get a job with them at one point. Oh well...

No one has purchased the new Eva movies, and considering how much Manga overpaid for the other 2, I don't think they're in a hurry to do that again
