Oh geez I just did a spittake seeing the title and opened the thread....

Zombie does need to come from someone ASAP though it's rumored Criterion has had it for years. They might have Seventh Victim too. Both have very aged standard def transfers that are much harder to watch coming off of the other seven films having new scans.

I'm still hoping that Shout or WAC release them with the original poster art. Along with Cat People and The Body-Snatcher, these are the higher profile titles in the Lewton horror cycle and should hopefully be announced for sometime next year.

There is, but it isn't sourced from Warner's original elements. There's a review with some screenshots up on DVD Beaver.

I figured I might as well get it - better than nothing while waiting for something from WAC or Criterion. I'm guessing the new German release will be from the same source as the Japanese disc, but I will probably pick it up if it's significantly better.

I have the Japanese one and it’s so so. Weak black levels, middling detail and exposed corners. A mild-to-moderate step up from the DVD.

I dunno. I thought it when there is so many zombie movies out like zombieland, night of the living dead, The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, Shawn of the Dead where Hollywood missed this one. The others were on bluray years ahead of this one. Kind of like how Hollywood didn't release Texasville, but the Last Picture Show is out. This one is in the precode period.
