It's totally a myth. There are far more movies with characters complaining about "The black guy dies first" than there are actual examples of it before it became a meme.

Excellent book. The book is written by horror films scholars that have appeared in many supplemental special features on horror featuring POC. They were on the new 4K disc release set of the original Candyman, etc.

He made Barbershop which is pretty good. Then it was all downhill from there. He hasn't made a good film in 20 years. Hopefully, this one breaks the streak.

Stranger things have happened. The guys responsible for the Hangover sequels gave us Joker and The Last of Us (Phillips and Mazin, respectively). Shawn Levy gave us nothing but crap before hitting a Homer with Free Guy.

I think it's way more subversive than the trailer implies, especially in how they're using the racist minstrel props. It's like Spike Lee's Bamboozled meets horror, which I'm there for. Bamboozled is a great film.

I saw it at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere. It’s pretty fun, like a lot of these movies the humor is hit and miss, but there are some hilarious hits. Great audience reaction to the whole thing.
