Just watched this obscure title for the first time last night and I recommend it 100%. Don't get confused, the acting is beyond horrible and the dialogue might just be worse but the gore is great, the pace is just right, decent amount of nudity and the overall feel of a 80s horror movie is perfect. I've seen my fair share of horror, and the phrase "so bad its good" gets thrown around far too often and in a lot of cases isn't true, but in this case it's 100% true.

It's not good, but it's decently fun at parts. It's a poor man's Night of the Living Dead. With tits.
It's got some gore effects that'll probably make ya laugh out loud. Have the pause button and slo-mo ready for some of this ish. ![]() One thing I really love about the movie is the outdoor fall atmosphere at the beginning. Not enough horror movies focus on the fun of Halloween. |

When I saw caps I had assumed it was an upscale of a 35mm IP - this was with the taste of the dreadful ICHI THE KILLER BD fresh in my mouth, mind you. The flick was shot on 16mm and then blown up to 35mm, which has left the film softer than most - it looks pretty "meh", even for a blow up, but I feel like this is a MANIAC situation where the elements themselves are the limiting factor. I actually picked this up recently, but haven't had a chance to open it yet. Fry's Electronics has an end-cap full of "bargain" MB BDs - not titles I was ever that interested in owning, but hell, for $4 a pop I'll try damn near anything. I think I got five off 'em for less than I paid for THE HOWLING that same day. ![]() |

Think of buying a Blu-ray disc with the PQ of a VHS tape. That sums up my thoughts on Flesh Eater. Still an awesome movie though.

Gotta give the Blu-ray more credit than that. You can't get that kind of filmic veneer and color reproduction on a VHS tape. Aside from that, your comment is pretty spot-on.
![]() It's a bad Blu-ray, but it definitely looks better than the included DVD, and it's better in motion. I paid six bucks for the thing and that's fine by me. I can't understand why I bought it once (a DVD zombie three-pack) let alone twice, but them's the breaks when you're a slightly masochistic horror fan who's obsessed with Blu-ray. I'd be curious if the movie could look any better, but maybe the 16mm stock used was just really, really cruddy, or this was taken from a 35mm blowup (which seems likely). |

It's a single frame of hilarity. The exploding head effect looked so damn goofy that I had to rewatch it slowly, and that absurd picture compelled me to whip my phone out. I need to get some BD screen capturing software to do it proper justice.
![]() The shot is around 21:35 of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WAf2...tu.be&t=21m35s |

I LOVE Flesh Eater! It's become a regular part of my Halloween rotation over the last few years since I picked up the Shriek Show blu-ray. Not only does it take place on Halloween, it also oozes '80s-ness and those are two of my biggest weaknesses!
Don't get me wrong, this is an incompetent movie in just about every way imaginable. But it's a blast from the opening frame to end credits. The gore is rad and really quite impressive for such an obviously low budget affair. I can't get enough of the over-the-top regional acting, cheesy dialogue, and corny situations (most consisting of star/director Bill Hinzman, the original zombie from Night of the Living Dead, biting on various naked women's bodies). Also, this film features Kevin Kindlin (aka: that hot dude from Hinzman's The Majorettes), so that's another obvious plus. ![]() As much as I treasure my Shriek Show blu-ray, there's SO MUCH room for improvement with this film (even though it's never looked good, I think it could certainly look a hell of a lot better). I'd love to see another label get their hands on it (though I suspect Mediablasters outright owns it). |

It's a terrible movie, but I appreciate the Halloween flair. I have the DVD (in a zombie 3-pack), and I would upgrade to Blu if I could get it for the cheap prices mentioned earlier. But as it's OOP now, it doesn't look like that's happening. C'mon, Media Blasters, reissue this!

I'm for it. Something I'll try to pick up cheap, but it's enjoyable enough that I'd like a nice new scan of it. |
