Default HD DVD's Super Bowl commercial

Anyone else find it fittingly ironic that the HD-DVD commercial was broadcast in standard def (where many others were in HD) ?

Apart from that, it's just an old, reused crappy commercial, with a tag on the end about the $149 price point.

Also, the positioning, right at the first break before half time, is one of the worst you could really have. This is when a lot of viewers are hitting the bathrooms or grabbing a smoke before the half time show.

Wow... I missed it. So they can pop for the $2.7 million thirty seconds, but they can't pay to have it broadcast in HD?? Laughable!

Yeah like this add is going to save HD DVD from drowning. Come on Toshiba you're format is dead. It's time to throw in the towel.

I saw most of the new commercials but somehow I missed the HD DVD one. I must've been taking a leak while it was on. Oh well, not worth watching anyways

Didn't register as HD on mine (I have Direct TV HD)... is that possible? And it's appearance was basically window boxed, black bars on the sides and top and bottom.

Talking See? Even my girlfriend knows!

Right after the Super Bowl, half time show, there was an HD-DVD commercial, and this is what my girlfriend has to say. Now keep this in reference I am the HDTV / Bluray nut and have indoctrinated her with my perfection and tweaking and SXRD but this just came outa no where and made me laugh so I figured I'd share!

She is the blue, i am the red, and names were eliminated to protect the innocent lol.

Ya I was pretty surprised. It wasn't in HD here in Canada.

Me and buddies are like "That's it??"

Not too worried about people buying it after seeing that POS.

Apparently the ad didn't even air in a lot of areas. I know that it supposedly aired right after the end of the 2nd quarter and all I saw there was a few local ads and a Cargil ad.

I didn't even know it happened yet. That was some poor timing. I got up for a minute and missed it. Worse, since its just a reused ad, the FOX Sports Sperbowl ad page doesn't even have it... http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7...Second-quarter. Given that they reused an old (and SD) ad, though, I guess it's 2 and half million dollars we'll never hear about again. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving company.

What kind of moronic company spends the cash on a Suerbowl ad to advertise an "HD" product, and makes the commercial in SD? I guess you need HD to clearly see Pepsi or Budweiser... but HD DVD looks better downscaled.

Edit: Now I see others saying that it happened during the "local" spots... strange.

Pretty uninspiring commercial and what a waste of money. I was actually expecting something flashy, but it was pretty generic.
