Default Suggestions for weird setup (3.1)

So my wife will not allow me to run any speaker wire across the room for rear surround speakers but I have noticed that my current 2 speaker, plus sub, setup loses some of the dialog in certain BDs. Would it be feasible to just add a center channel and get some of the voice back from the standard 2 channel setup? Thanks for suggestions

Yes, that is certainly a feasible option. Is there any way you can run your wire under the carpet or tucked under baseboards. Even if not, a solid CC (ideally the same brand and series as your current fronts) will certainly improve your lack of dialogue.

What brand are your front speakers, if you don't mind my asking? What is your budget for your front speaker?

Check out something like this if you still want to go 5.1.

You can also paint it so the wire is basically invisible.

Right now I am using my good old Boston Acoustics CR8s (bookshelf speakers) with a Panasonic receiver (SPDIF only) but my floor is tile so no go on the carpet or baseboard idea. THanks for the suggestion
