Default Home theater setup suggestions.

I am in the market for a new home theater 5.1 setup. I have a Samsung 61" 1080p DLP and a PS3 for blu's. Ive pretty much settled on the Elemental Designs A2-300 suggested in the home theater virgins thread based on the reviews. I also think the Polk monitor 60's fronts and Polk CS3 center suggested in the same thread would work well for my setup. I need suggestions on a good reciever that I can use to get the lossless audio from my PS3 in the 400-600$ range as well as some rear speakers that i can hang from the ceiling as I dont have a wall behind my sitting area. Any other suggestions on any of the equipment would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Well like alot of people I would say plan ahead get a reciever that supports 7.1 and has pre outs. Just remember just cuz it has 7.1 outs doesnt mean you have to use them all.

I didn't really "Shop around" so you can probably find better deals on some of these, but they'll all get the job done

Those are some good suggestions, anyone have any recommendations on rear speakers that i could mount on the ceiling, and are those polk speakers and elemental design subs a good choice, I use to have some elemental design 8" subs in my truck and they sounded excellent.

You can get some Polk TSi100s for surrounds if you can't find the Monitor 30s for surrounds. I would suggest an Onkyo 806 for $615 shipped new from Amazon. Go get the T90e (same as the monitor 60s) from Newegg. The monitor line has been discontinued for months now, and it's hard to find them new these days.

Budget?

P.S. you should audition all suggestions..... many people don't audition AVRs (although you should) and any of the ones suggested will "work" but auditioning is even more crucial for speakers..... either way...

Budget???

I would consider those Polk TSi100s but they are bookshelf speakers, are there any speakers a little more aesthetically appealing with good sound quality because the surrounds will be hanging from the ceiling in the middle of my living room/kitchen cus my house has an open floor plan.

In that case...why not some inwall speakers. You have too look for them in most cases, they don't stand out, and depending on who you get them from, they can still sound really good. I would look at polk's inwall speakers.

That's a great suggestion (as far as in-walls, but the brand/model is up to you)

As far as auditioning....... it means you need to listen before buying

haha thanks...so in ceiling speakers are ok, I was under the impression that they dont sound that good, I would even consider a 7.1 setup if those were a viable option. Anyone have any opinions/recommendations on in ceiling speakers????

my friend uses two of these for surrounds (uses in-walls for the fronts)

http://www.hometheaterstore.com/product_p/ccm20.htm

This is what HE uses for his fronts.... (L/R) He has an LCR8 for his center.

http://www.listenup.com/B&W+CWM800-p...-p-665097.html

I'd recommend using these for the L/R/C though.... and install them in the wall.... (or similar speakers)

http://www.firstglimpsemag.com/Edito...e08g.asp&guid=

In-wall/ceiling speakers need to compensate for their inability to have a conventional "enclosure" by better design etc..... You're correct that some in-walls sound like junk.... but some are quite nice.... again... you gotta listen to them

I only recommend that you check these out since I've had a lot of opportunities to hear them at my friends' place.

good luck!
