Miles Teller, who wowed Sundance audiences with last year's The Spectacular Now, is less of a known quantity, but based on the ecstatic reception for opening night's Whiplash, that won't last long. In the film, he's a driven music-conservatory student who's driven to bloody obsession by a hard-charging teacher played by J.K. Simmons.

From Vanity Fair...

"Teller is absolutely ferocious in his attack on the drums, on music, on passion. Same goes for Simmons, who (believe it or not) already had fest-goers crying Oscar for his perverse, craggily, in-your-face performance."

So this is playing in chicago october 17th and I'm pretty excited for it as the trailer is just fantastic. One of my most anticipated films.

One of my most anticipated of the fall as well.

I like Miles Teller so far from what I've seen from him, but it's J.K. Simmons who really sold the movie to me.

I initially overlooked this one, "Pah, a drummer movie, Miles Teller. Boring". But no, this looks really incredible, looking forward to checking it out...next year, like every other great film that's coming out this year, we've got to wait until January.

This one of my favorite movie of the year. Miles Teller and J. K. Simmons are incredibly good. The music sequences are excellent and the last one is very intense and powerful. Even the story is so good. I loved it.

JK Simmons I'm sure is going to get an oscar nomination for this, but I would really like Miles Teller to also since hes one of the best young actors working today. Though competition really is strong this year.

great performances but some of the overly dramatic parts seemed a bit too forced at times - still though definitely recommended!

This film was a masterpiece and a total experience - one of the most intense films ive seen since The Matrix and Requiem For a Dream.
