A tasty tease from Facebook earlier this morning:

"Hell to pay" hinting at Hell Asylum (SOV) getting a blu ray upgrade perhaps?

I've been meaning to make this thread for a while but could never motivate myself to do it since I'm too lazy to code in all of the releases, so glad to see someone else did so!

As far as MOV/boutique/indie labels gone, MakeFlix/Tempe has always gotten nothing but the highest reviews from me. Great packaging, top-tier customer service, and the discs that Tempe handles themselves are absolutely LOADED with special features.

JR's also a member on this board as well for anyone who hasn't interacted with him!

Well it is for something new "Brimstone Incorporated". Bummer, oh well.

Not a Tempe Video release today I guess, but a MakeFlix 30-Day exclusive.

In hindsight this should have been a little more obvious probably.

They'd have hyped this a lot harder if it was going to be a Tempe Video release. Rather than a quick social media post a couple hours before the preorder went live.

What's the likelihood of the remaining movies in the illustrious Things series becoming available to order from the site?

I took a chance on Brimstone Incorporated. I'm a sucker for anthologies.

I certainly won't be recommending it to everyone as a pure blind buy, but it is better than I expected.

The lead actors of each segment are capable enough and seem to all be having a good time. Several Tempe veterans. The script is decent and has a few moments where it's smarter than I expect for such a movie with some genuinely funny moments and a few story beats pop up that aren't completely obvious in advance.

It's not a gore-fest by any means, but it does pop-up often enough in each segment and appeared to be mostly practical and convincing enough.

I'm highlighting the good stuff, but make no mistake that it still has most of the hallmarks of a modern ultra-low-budget horror movie. But I would say it's firmly placed in the better end of that genre with respect to the ones I've seen. The first two segments may be a little overly-talky, but the first one is saved with some pretty good humor. The second one dragged a bit more until it finally got going in its final third.

Its biggest fault is the modern-ultra-low-budget HD movie aesthetic and the limitations that comes with that. It's kinda flat and lifeless like you'd expect even though the movie itself has a nice DIY charm to it.

Again it's impossible to recommend a full-price blind buy, but there's certainly worse options for filling out your cart out to reach the free shipping threshold during a decent sale.

And if you have a known tolerance and appreciation for this type of movie, it's worth giving it a shot.

By far the longest review I've ever written. Why for this movie? I don't know either.

Yes, kind of. It was made during that period where J.R. Bookwalter and Tempe were commissioned to produce a string of movies for Full Moon that included HorrorVision, The Vault, Hell Asylum, Dead & Rotting, and Witchouse 2 & 3. So it was basically Tempe doing gigs for Charles Band/Full Moon. Tempe produced the special-edition DVDs for these movies, but I imagine they had wider distribution than the typical Tempe release thanks to Full Moon. I have no idea if Bookwalter has a deal in place with Full Moon to reissue any of their Full Moon/Tempe collaborations, so that was just a shot in the dark.

For what it's worth, both Witchouse sequels, Dead and Rotting, and Hell Asylum were all released by Tempe on DVD.

Yes, but I wonder if Tempe's deal with Full Moon would allow them to reissue on Blu-ray 10 years later.

NEW RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT 3 OF 4: For the die-hard collector, we’ve assembled all six “Mulva” and “Filthy McNasty” flicks with newly-restored versions of the remaining seven LBP/Splatter Rampage movies!

BONEJACK & TEEN APE’S DIRTY DOZEN Signature Edition

For nearly a decade, madcap writer/director Chris Seaver and his ragtag Low-Budget Pictures crew made an indelible mark on shot-on-video cinema with a series of raunchy, deliriously over the top camcorder features distributed by Splatter Rampage. The odyssey began modestly enough with “Mulva: Zombie Ass Kicker!” (2000) and “Filthy McNasty” (2001), initially released separately as bonus features on limited edition Tempe/Full Moon DVDs prior to being paired as a double feature in 2003. The success of that standalone disc spawned the inevitable sequels — “Mulva 2: Kill Teen Ape!” (2005), “Filthy McNastier” (2003), “Filthy McNastiest” (2005), and “Filthy McNasty 4: Carnal Holocaust” (2010) — laying the foundation for an entire “Seaververse” of zany recurring characters. Mr. Bonejack (hilariously portrayed by the director himself!), Teen Ape, demons Phil & D’artagnan, Choach, Heather & Puggly, and others inhabited wildly original mashups “Carnage for the Destroyer” (2006), “Film Crew” (2008), and “Teenage Goes to Camp”(2008) as well as parodies of pop culture sensations “Lord of the Rings,” “The Monster Squad,” “Escape from New York,” and “Twilight” with “Quest for the Egg Salad” (2003), “Destruction Kings” (2006), “Wet Heat” (2008), and “Taintlight” (2009) respectively.

“Bonejack & Teen Ape’s Dirty Dozen” assembles all 13 movies into four jam-packed Blu-ray discs, each one newly restored from original Mini-DV and VHS archival videotape elements with all-new retrospectives from key cast & crew plus vintage commentaries and bonus features. Limited to only 500 units, this Signature Edition comes packaged in a collectible slipcase autographed by writer/director Chris Seaver!
