Please, please, please, please, please, please, please Criterion have a clear Scanavo case like most of them and not that stuff like Fantastic Mr. Fox was!

"Restored" transfer, lol. Come on, guys. "New" transfer, maybe. But methinks a 2012 film hardly needs to be "restored." (Especially since the original HD transfer is already great.)

Will more than likely have adjusted contrast/brightness adjustments too which would technically count as restored. |

It was mastered digitally in 2K for its original release. There's nothing to damage. Criterion is throwing around the term "restored" a bit liberally here, that's all. When all they really mean is new scan, most likely (which is still probably unnecessary since the original blu ray pq is great.)
Even if they're going back to the original film elements, it's from like 3 years ago! I'm sure it was all stored properly. Last edited by benricci; 04-15-2015 at 11:44 PM. |

All this release means is that we're one step closer to GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL Criterion being released.

I love this movie and I have bought every single Criterion wes anderson release so far, but this one leaves me scratching my head a bit. So here's the features list:
Audio commentary featuring Anderson Selected-scene storyboard animatics Interviews with cast and crew Behind-the-scenes tour hosted by Bill Murray Welcome to New Penzance, hosted by Bob Balaban Auditions Edward Norton’s home movies from the set I'm guessing that three of those features could be the same crummy 2-3 minute featurettes on the existing disc (Set Tour with Bill Murray, Welcome to New Penzance, and A Look Inside Moonrise Kingdom were the names of them on the original, and I know Bob Balaban "hosted" one of them!). If that is the case (I hope it isn't), you're basically paying an extra 10 bucks (20+ if you have it already) to get criterion packaging, a commentary, selected-scene storyboard animatics, auditions, and edward norton's home movies from the set. You're losing a UV code and (MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!!) a slipcover!!1 I guess what I'm saying is I'll wait to make sure none of those extras are a repeat of the junk on the first disc before going after the Criterion release, cause currently it really just doesn't seem like it's going to be worth paying for it all over again unless somehow the movie looks way better (I doubt it, I don't think there was anything wrong with the first one). If they really have a booklet instead of a pamphlet that would help ![]() |

I need to rebuy the Wes Anderson films on Criterion. I had several of the DVD releases, but I recently sold them along with all of my other DVDs.
I've been meaning to buy them, but it seems like something else always pops up and gobbles up my money. |

Never doubted this was coming, but always feel like this is taking a spot for a more obscure film that Criterion could release instead. I'm sure this title will make them a lot of money though and maybe pay for some of the lesser known titles.
