Lionsgate will be releasing The Mist on 4K UHD on October 3rd! This will be a 4-disc set, with both regular and B&W versions on 4K.

Nice to see this Darabont-King collab get a UHD release. I think I’ll stick with the blu in this case, I could never fully get onboard with the ending.

There would need to be an absolute certainty of hopelessness before I could believe this determined team of survivors would

At least the B&W version covers up a lot of the ugly CGI, makes it look better.

I'm glad Lionsgate will start releasing TWC movies on 4K, I remember back in 2017 to 2019, they released some Summit Entertainment films on 4K before they were acquired by Lionsgate.

One of the worst endings to a movie I've ever seen, but I'll echo the sentiment that it's good to see a TWC movie hitting UHD.

I like the movie but like others, while I think the ending has balls of steel, I'm a much bigger fan of the book ending. In the book, they just leave in their car to explore, very similar to the ending for The birds. For me, this kind of open ending made such an impression on me when I was 10 or so. It leaves so much to the imagination. How far does the Mist go? Is it everywhere? Are there monsters all over the world? Or just around the corner? Like I said, very similar to the birds.
While the movie gives you a very finite ending where the monsters seem to be loosing and the threat is very much neutralized. On top of that it's such a downer of an ending!

The FX also don't really work. I know Darabont fought the studios to keep his ending and in doing so had to deal with a much smaller budget. Imagine if he had went for the original book ending and in doing so would have had the production value of The Green Mile? Top notch cinematography, great special effects, etc.

Personally, i'd have much preferred that. But I also get why people (and Stephen King included) love the movie ending. It's shocking and it leaves such a strong impression on everyone who watch it, so I get it. And if that's the movie Darabont wanted to make, it's probably better he did it his way. Still, I really wished that wasn't the case haha.

Hopefully the 4K has the original poster art for this!
