Default Onkyo SR605 image jitter

So I went ahead and bought onkyo 605 (paired with polk rm 6750s). Many of you folks here recommended it, and I am quite happy with the purchase. Still need to fine tune and adjust sound as I’m thinking to relocate my tv. Anyway, I have an issue with the image that is notably shaking (especially when viewing guide menu). I have a cable box connected to onkyo via HDMI and another one out to TV (very simple set-up for now). Did anyone have same issue? Please help

Also, Is there another way to connect ipod to A/V? Don’t want to spend another $80 for Onkyo ipod dock.

I don’t notice significant image distortion on live tv, but when I pause my dvr/cable or view program guide and other menu features, the image is shaking fast vertically (about 0.1 inch up and 0.1 inch down from the starting point). Few times I completely lost all video for 2 seconds (monitor just turned black) and when it came back, tv displayed 1080i, just like when I change inputs on tv.

great, so all i need is a Y cable that has regular R and L on one end and an earpiece plug on the other.

I definitely thought of that but can’t switch the cables because one of them is only 3 ft long. To rule out cable issues, I already ordered hdmi 1.3 cable from monoprice (thanks crackinhedz). So you think it’s a faulty cable?

Hmm, I don't see image jitter that you are seeing with my set up.

It happens when I change channels and info bar is being displayed on tv. Or if I turn tv volume and same is displayed. When I pause live tv, pause sign is displayed and that sign is shaking mostly. Kinda hard to tell with movies or live programs but I suspect the jitter remains at all times.

ok, lets try and narrow down the problem

connect the source directly to the TV, no amp.. still there ??

how about a different source,,, Cable / Blu-Ray I don't see what you have avail in your sig

Don't know how hard this will be for you... but try to connect the TV thru a large ga extention cord to another circuit... maybe electrical in nature

No problem when I connect cable to tv (using fairly good hdmi 1.3 cable but can’t use another one. Too short)

Don’t have any other hdmi device yet (I can still try dvd using component in and hdmi out. That’s a good idea)

haven’t thought of power issue, which is another possibility considering I don’t have a surge protector and all devises are connected through $1 extension cord.
Will try when I get home. Thanks gearyt

!!!!!!Onkyo 605 wrongfully accused!!!!!

The problem was in my cable/dvr receiver. I connected cable box directly into the tv again and the image issue was there. As to the sound, I couldn’t even hear anything from tv’s speakers due to extreme jitter. Onkyo actually stabilized faulty audio signal so I thought the problem was in video only. After restarting the cable receiver, the problem went away completely, so sorry onkyo for doubting you (I actually suspected cheep hdmi cable but this proves again that there is no need to spend $$$$$ on expensive cables).

thanks g. I did fallow your advice.
The only problem I have now is that I can’t blast the system past 70 (has 100 max). My 8 months old gets little ...... nervous at 50% This weekend I get to stay alone for a while so beware my neighbors 2 flights up and down

for audio yes. If you have an IPOD video I would buy this:

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...More=MB128LL/A

Its component (and RCA "regular R and L" as you put it)which the 605 will send thru your HDMI cable to your TV)

There is a composite one too, but F that.

EDIT: originally posted the composite link and called it component on accident. Link is good now...here is the composite if youre on a budget:

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...More=MB129LL/A

Always getting composite and components mixed up so I call it R&L Wait, isn't RCA and composite all the same? I think it's time manufacturers limit new A/V equipment to hdmi, component, optical and coaxal
