Yeah, that stinks.
In the US, Forkspoken will be $69.99 new from Square Enix. As far as the map, that could be interesting to explore. The story I'm not sure about. Hopefully it's entertaining. I might wait on that one but that's for late May 2022. I see Saints Row was delayed as expected from February to August or so in 2022. I wonder how much that will be. That will be PS5 only I believe. Of course Horizon 2 will be 69.99. For must have games, I can handle it, but it's $25 or so shy of being $100 per game at $70+ taxes. If the games look cutting edge and impressive, then I can understand it. But if they look like PS4 games with 4K 60 fps, then I'm not in a hurry to pay an extra $10. |

Yeah, screw off is the way i see this. I am from a generation that got screwed with "Once in a lifetime" events multiple times and are seriously suffering as a result to the point we genuinely don't understand how they think their main target groups going to be happy forking out that much crap ton of cash.
I'm personally avoiding all these games till they've gone on sale under £40. |

I paid the $70 price for Horizon…because I ordered the PS4 steelbook edition and will just do the free PS5 upgrade.
Black Friday proved even with the new MSRP these games will still see similar priced sales. So just like when $60 was the norm I will continue to wait for sales on things that I don’t want to pay MSRP for. Hell some of them were $50 a month or two after release in the summer. |

If people wait it out a little bit, you'll never have to pay crazy prices for games. Also look at pawnshops, if you don't mind a little used. I've found month old releases for a fraction of the price. It was nice getting the Resident Evil 2 remake for about $10 a couple months after release. Glad I'm not someone that needs a game on release anymore. I still get what I want and save lots of money in the process. I think the last game I bought on release was GTA V (PS3) and Fallout New Vegas (PS3) before that. Waiting and taking my time over the years is the main reason I have 1,000s of games in my collection for cheap overall. Hell, 100s of those are PS4 alone. Plus, it seems like game prices often drop a little lower shortly after release anyway.

It's such an entitled attitude to complain about the launch price of something when you can just wait a short while and get it for a much lower price. Games drop in price faster then they ever did before so high launch prices are only an issue for extremely impatient people.

What stinks about Derb's situation is Canada seems to be not just charging the difference in the currency, but also import costs probably.
$93.49 before tax Canadian. 1 USD = 1.2724 CAD 1 CAD = 0.78589 USD In the US, that would be $70 USD converted up to $89.07 CAN. Then they must be adding $4.50 or so for importation costs, going up to $94. So instead of $70, it would be about $75 for the game. |

![]() Yes, it's super entitled to complain about prices rising when wages are stagnant and costs of more important things like y'know, food, rent etc. are already squeezing disposable income down to a minimum. When PS3 was around, i aimed for £40 new as my goal. Still do really and to that end if you now say have £70, that's almost 1.5x the cost i would have purchased a single game for even during the PS4 era on a pre-order. Personally am i happy to wait? Yes. However, after near a year, some titles had not drastically reduced down at all. Hell, Ubisoft titles notorious for dropping haven't had AC Valhalla drop below £20 in like a year. Similar for like RE7 Village etc. So it's not as simple as just waiting always. |

Let's just put things into perspective.
As above. Modern games are released broken, needing "Day One Patches" and scaled back content with built in MTX exploiting mechanics. Then they usually strip back content to advertise pre-launch that they're going to sell you DLC later. ![]() Truthfully, i hope if anything with all this crap of Cyberpunk 2077, Battlefield 2042, GTA "Definitive" Edition etc. that it will stop people and make them think twice about pre-orders. We're always told "Vote with your wallets" but the problem is, Joe Public doesn't seem to get with the damn programme and it ruins it for those with what i'd call common sense. |

PS Store has been having sales that take up to 90% off for some games, which is something I never thought would happen. For years, I thought digital games were going to remain 59.99 and up forever. I'm glad some of the sale prices are extremely reasonable these days.
I now have so many digital games, that I don't even get to play them all in depth. Sales so cheap digitally for some games, like 1.99. I saw a few games for .79 cents. Now only if Sony will fix their filter. When you search for games $1 to $5 range, it brings up games that go over that price. It's not basing it on the sale price sometimes, but the default price. It needs to be refined. Like if I pick a range of 19.99 to 39.99, it'll bring up games that are priced 9.99 to 19.99 on sale. Disc games, as great as they can be having a disc, I've never seen brand new for under $9.99, and that price is very rare. Usually 14.99 and up. |

So, in comparison it's become pretty damn rare seeing PS5 titles like Demon Souls etc. dropping to sub £30 near a year later new or used. |

I see it as an issue for people who buy on release as they might be encouraged to wait for the sales with everyone else that does it anyway, and the prices do go down quite a lot within 6 months on the lead up to even more reductions around black Friday weekend. I've bought a couple of things on release that were ridiculously cheap versus how much they launched for the past couple of weeks.

It's the same situation it's always been. If you really want a game and think it's good enough to justify the money, get it when it comes out. For all other games, just wait.
