Default If Paramount Came Back

Hey,

I was just thinking about how things would happen if Paramount came back to Blu Ray.

Clearly,.. they could just "go neutral" and start releasing to both formats but.. when they did their big screw up they were so rude about it pulling titles that were obviously already printed.

I would hope that they would just drop HD DUD like a hot potato and cancel upcoming releases (have they scheduled any?) and come back with word that certain titles are ready to go and will hit the shelves soon.

Since they went to HD DUD,.. Buying their movies on Blu has been more fun (sort of like buying beer when your 18.. you're not supposed to which adds to the perceived value). I don't know if it would be so fun after they come back but if they went overboard with rudeness to the red camp like the did to us,.. that may help.

-Brian

I am importing Beowulf from the UK...so the next new release from them should be Cloverfield.

You know, I really wonder how long either Paramount/Dreamworks or Universal will even stay "neutral" after (not when) they make the switch to producing Blu-ray disks. I mean, even Warner gave the Reds approximately six months--and that was overly generous--but I wonder if the other 2/3 switcher studios will even give that format even that long of a transition. (Especially if Toshiba starts producing Blu-ray players by summer--I love that juicy rumor!)

If you can't push your latest stash through Blockbuster, Netflix, Best Buy, or most other retail outlets in the coming months, why would you continue to produce something that has become even more of a niche product than it was? Many of us here may use amazon, but if that's one of your very few remaining outlets, why would you bother to keep producing titles for that market alone?

I checked and they don't have much coming for the DUD's anyway.

They can keep Beowulf (ok,.. to be fair,.. I haven't seen it. But the trailer was not watch-able meaning I couldn't even sit through 3 minutes of it. Perhaps it's because the PSN HD trailer had some PQ problems because it looked pretty badly done.)

but since so many dud-sters have their hopes to get Sweeney Todd before the bottom falls out of HD DUD,.. I think that would be a great one to cancel.

If i'm honest if and when they come back, I'll say yay for blu-ray and just move on.

I'll buy back titles I want and new movies, but never forget how they screwed us over every time I see that damn paramount logo!

Chuck,

I see your point. They were pretty rude when they left. I guess that's why I think they should be pretty rude when the come back. Cancel all the DUD releases,.. stop issuing the currently titles. That sort of thing.

They should have to pay dues somehow. They made the most insane of mistakes. Maybe just the amount of laughing at them that's already been done is suitable punishment. Those silly gooses.

I would be very selective about which titles I purchase from them, they need to be on punishment for a little while.

Dumb!

Be a movie fanboy, not a format fanboy.

I welcome Paramount to Blu, and cant wait for Transformers!

Silly!

This is just content delivery. They are not a child, they dont need a spanking.

Revenge is stupid, just buy the movies.

I think we should show some class and welcome them back with open arms. A lot of HD DVD fanboys gave HD DVD a bad name with there low class antics.

Do you often purchase movies from other studios that you really don't want to buy?

I really don't understand the idea of trying to punish a billion dollar company by withholding a $20 purchase if it is something you want. If you want them to embrace and release more films, buy those you like and want and if sales exceed expectations then they (and other studios) will invest in release more titles faster.

If everybody wants to punish and shun them by not buying titles they want, then expect them to think there is little future in HDM and slow development of more releases.

Yeah, people should really NOT take it so personally. It's business. They werent out to screw YOU personally. They got paid a large amount of money by a company that would do anything to try to save their format. They took the money and lived up to their end of the contract. It happens all the time in the business world. Now they realize their mistake and are making plans on turning back around. Simple as that.

When they come back, all it means to me is: More Blu-ray movies I can buy. Which makes me happy.

The only release I've been waiting on since they switched is the Jack Ryan Collection.

yeah when they come over I am looking forward to the Jack Ryan series and yes Top Gun .... n o doubt they have seen the light and realize how huge of a mistake they made but now are paying for it by not soaking in the profits as are other greats like WB and a long long list of others.... foolish Universal and Paramount

Paramount is coming back. Becoming neutral is a waste of time and money. HD DVD adopters might buy the last of the movies at a good price. Most people are going to dump HD DVD faster than Pam Anderson's last marriage.

Neutrality is what caused this war, why go back to that concept?
