Olive Films will be releasing Nicholas Ray's The Savage Innocents (1960) on June 27th.

Quote:

Inuk (Anthony Quinn), an Eskimo hunter, offers his wife, Asiak (Yoko Tani), to a visiting Christian missionary as a courtesy, which is a custom of his people. When the missionary refuses this offer with disdain, an angered Inuk attacks and accidentally kills him. After Inuk is later caught by a pair of troopers who seek to return him for a trial, they face a blizzard. The troopers must decide whether to let the resourceful Inuk help them. Otherwise, they all may perish in the storm.

One that I've always wanted to see and have been (im)patiently awaiting release.

Now if only somebody (*cough Criterion) could get out Kurosawa's Dersu Uzala...

I'm not holding my breath for DERSU UZALA. I've heard that the Russian film elements for it and 1968's WAR AND PEACE are "all over the place."

Deep Discount has this presently for $16.99 which is just about at my max level for a middling transfer catalog title with absolutely no extras. Amazon lists it as out of stock at $29.95 which I feel is way too much for such a release.
