Default Halloween (1978) returning to theaters

Just read this here.

Quote:
This October, John Carpenter's immortal classic, HALLOWEEN, will be making a return to theaters nationwide. This will be the biggest run the film has had since shocking audiences in 1978, and makes for the perfect early kick off to next year's 35th Anniversary celebration.

Screening before the film will be YOU CAN'T KILL THE BOGEYMAN: 35 YEARS OF HALLOWEEN, a new mini documentary written and directed by our own Justin Beahm, focusing on the undeniable impact the film (and series) has had on culture and the genre. The documentary will run at all screenings coast-to-coast.

More details will be posted soon over at http://www.HalloweenMovies.com, but before the press or anyone else found out, we wanted to share the news with you, the most amazing fans in cinema. Stay tuned!

This is what they should have done instead of doing the lousy remakes in the first place...

And yet no one will go see this. HA HA.

Why see something that you can see in the comfort of your own home.

I love going to the theatres, but I agree. Members here are always saying they'll wait for the blu release so they can watch in their homes.

I agree the same here i love going. But I mean that's why they make new movies or atleast updated versions to see them in theaters. If they kept putting the same movies out into theaters every couple of years no one would go. I mean people would go, but they wouldn't make money if they had newer ones out.

Why pay $20 or more to watch something you already own at home for free?

Hollywood is a business, and like any other business they're about making money! And alot of it! Corporate greed rules all!

I would pay $9 to see Cabin In The Woods or Scream 4 in theatres again though.

Hopefully the debate will finally be settled as to the correct color temperature of the nighttime scenes. Carpenter's approved Criterion laserdisc didn't have the heavy blue tint, but Cundey's DVD approved version did. Let's see what versin pops up in theaters.

I saw the original in the theater back in '06 and it is such a great film to see on the big screen. The iconic theme, The Shape's breathing and all the jump scares play very well. If you're a big fan of this film, I highly recommend it.

I'll for sure be there if it plays in my area the Halloween franchise is one of my favorites.

Plus, my girlfriend hasn't seen any of the Halloween films, so that's an added bonus

It'd be cool to see, I guess, though I'd also like to see The Texas Chain Saw Massacre in cinemas as well. Two great horror films.

Rave theaters showed this last year. It was nothing special, the theater was sent a blu-ray disc to project from the studio. Will be the same thing for this.

Was fun seeing it on a big screen with a crowd though.

+1. A double feature with Halloween would be epic!

I bet it won't be all that wide, which is a shame. The Exorcist re-release did great back in 2000. I don't know why they don't re-release more movies in wide release. I'd love to see a lot of classics on the big screen, especially horror films. With a proper release I could see Halloween doing well in October. My favorite Halloween film is actually Halloween 4 though. I'd kill to see that on the big screen, but they only ever re-release the originals.
