Most of the transfers I'd like to see on Blu-ray are films. But if there's one TV series I'd love to see get transferred it's "Dark Shadows."
Despite all the production flaws - exposed cabling; dangling mics; flubbed lines from cast members, it would be a great collection to buy; invest in. It would look real good! The series originally ran for four years. It would really be good to get the set on a few BDs rather than several DVDs as well. How many of you would buy part of the set or the entire collection on Blu-ray? Parisien1 Kdl v3000 PS3/40GB 7 BDs - All promotional at this time |

Are you refering to the original series from the late 60's or the revamp in the early 90's?

I'm not sure there is much of a point releasing "Dark Shadows" on BD.
It was filmed in a 1.33:1 aspect and on video so there's not going to be much resolution that would benefit from a BD release. Something like "Hogan's Heros", which was shot on film and restored several years ago, would see quantifiable benefit from a HD release as some of you might have seen on HDnet. Now, the revival aka 1991 version was shot on film so if they still have those masters, that would be a different story. The question would be if the final edit were done on film or video, I'm not sure about this series. Last edited by MouseRider; 02-15-2008 at 08:41 AM. |

This would be an example in time to put all of the shows on as few discs as possible. The series must be ONE HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE discs long on d.v.d. is it not?

It depends on if the show was shot on film, which could look good on BD if properly cleaned up & restored, or video, which will look horrible on any format.
The old Star Trek series looks much better on HD because they originally shot all the live action on film. They only had to redo the old effects shots. I have no idea how they shot the original Dark Shadows show. |
