The Blu-ray version ... I've never seen the film and I am NOT anti-anyone but I just find homosexual scenes icky (to each his own ... I find some scenes in the Indiana Jones series gross ... like the snakes and bugs ... but I have a friend who actually LIKES bugs ... some keep things like that as pets, and some even have pet snakes -- public health hazard that last one if you ask me )

Anyway, I just want to know how icky it is (in particular the Blu-ray version).

I would find sex scenes involving fat people (like in one of the Austin Powers movies) about as icky if not more, so again I am not anti-anyone Check this out for a laugh:

i saw it in the theater, so i don't know anything about the unrated cut or whatever, but the supposed "offensive" gay scenes in the movie were pretty lame. I mean i find it hard to believe that even over the top homophobes were offended by this portrayal. I would also think that getting to see Rosario Dawson's boobies swinging as she crawls on all fours completely naked would be fair recompense for anyone that sickened by the gay stuff. I was sickened by how bad this movie was.

Movie on a whole was terrible, about the only compelling stuff in the film was the Leto/Farrell story arc. Jolie sounded like she was channeling Count Chocula for her accent.

As to how "icky" it is? I dont how to answer that. It was pretty tame in terms of graphic depiction if thats what you want to know.

First, snakes and bugs are just as much of a public health hazard as a dog. The use of "icky", come on, really, that was the best word you could think of?

Plus, Alexander the Great, Alexander of Macedonia was gay. All most all Greeks were.

My question about this blu ray is: Why is it split into two blu ray discs? It's so annoying, considering that a blu ray disc has significantly more storage capacity than a regular DVD.

Just to clarify, I don't find lesbian scenes to be icky at all

Another thing I don't like in movies is bathroom humor (when its viscerally displayed like in Not Another Teen Movie for instance)

If the movie was horrible then I guess I'll rent it before thinking about buying. Thanks for the heads up.

There's btw a cut of the film on DVD that removes some of the gay scenes, I was told ... but I always like getting the longest version of the movie (the Blu-ray version adds stuff .. don't remember what... same as its DVD counterpart)

There were stories in the news not too long ago ... I forget which state ... of snakes gobbling up children (maybe it was alligators, but I think it was snakes). Bugs don't do that, nor do dogs ... though dangerous breeds I think should be outlawed or heavily regulated.

I'm not arguing the history (don't know enough to know either way and I'll take you for your word) and if it was historical then I guess it's best to include it ... I just don't like seeing it ... they could keep it implied. Nothing against gay folk .... just as I have nothing against mushrooms even though generally speaking I don't like tasting them. Ditto for bugs (although curiously, I don't mind having spiders around ... it may be cuz I like how they kill other bugs!)

I think if you go into this film with eyes open you'll see that it's not a bad movie at all. Yes it's no Braveheart however it's better than Troy for example. The directers cut is way better than the theatrical release so go that rout. My only problem with this blu ray is that there is no looseless audio.

Alexander was a terrible movie, imo. I had such high expectations for this movie and ended up leaving the theater very disapointed. I ended up getting this movie shipped to me as part of the 5 free Hd-Dvd deal (i know, flame me) and i couldn't help but think...Thanks for nothing!! I haven't even watched it yet

Yeah, after watching this movie once, it was instantly on the sell list. The only thing good about this movie was a couple of massive battlefield scenes and seeing Val Kilmer in action again. On the whole however, it's not worth the time it takes to watch it.

I thought that this version was a marked improvement over the theatrical release.

If, like me, you enjoy period films, then you should consider this. It's not completely accurate for a historical piece, but it's not a blatant work of fiction either. The cinematography, wardrobe and set design are top-notch.

Off topic: The actions of the pet(s) are the responsiblities of the owner, but still, don't own snakes or gators or tigers, and train pitbulls and doberman's to be friendly and sociable.

I am not a fan of homosexual scenes, not my cup of tea, but if it is necessary for the story then fine. I think you should just avoid Alexander all together, not a good film. Rosario Dawson does show both of her ladies in the movie though so it will straighten you out.

I don't think this accurately describes the age. Modern ideas are very poor substitutes for describing the sexual practices of foregone eras.

I see your point. Although, the ancient Greeks took pleasure from both sexes. It's science, or history.

Ya....Rosario is the best part. I've got it....decent movie but being that it's almost 4 hours long....re-watch value is at a minimum.

Did anyone else notice the scene where Angelina Jolie is talking to Alexander but in the video her mouth doesn't move? It's like that on the DVD as well.

This is a skip around title.

Just watch Angelina Jolie and maybe keep it on while you are cleaning your house.

You definitely don't have to watch this movie, but I've heard good things about the Blu Ray.
