United Kingdom The Man Who Fell To Earth

Nicolas Roeg's The Man Who Fell To Earth has received a preliminary release date: March 7.

Synopsis:
Quote:
Thomas Jerome Newton is a humanoid alien who comes to Earth to get water for his dying planet. He starts a high technology company to get the billions of dollars he needs to build a return spacecraft, and meets Mary-Lou, a girl who falls in love with him. He does not count on the greed and ruthlessness of business here on Earth, however.

Surprised no-one seemed interested in this release. I picked it up last week and it's great -PQ is fantastic for a 70's film and there are some interesting extras. Shame Bowie didn't contribute anything though.

I purchased it, and yes the picture and sound are excellent. It's a great transfer and encode although I found the film to be absolutely dull and boring so sold it on.

I'd ordered for this film from Amazon UK couple months ago, but they sent me a message saying that they can't source it and have cancelled my order
So both the Criterion and Optimum releases are out of circulation now?

Its still cheap via 3rd party sellers (£6.50 lowest) but then I've noticed your in India so perhaps they don't ship overseas. Maybe try ebay.

I have it on order from Play.com, it says 3 - 5 days to be sent. I'm nervous after reading the posts above now.

I contacted Studio Canal today, they replied telling me that it's NOT Out of Print. There are just shortages at the moment.

There's been a copy sitting for months in my local HMV. £15 it's priced at.

I'd probably pay that for a copy to be fair, I really loved the film. Still hoping my Play order comes through eventually.

Anyone want to shed light on this? Was there ever a slip cover for this release? I've just received my copy from Play and it is without a slip cover. I just won a version on eBay with a booklet and slip cover. Cheers.

Sounds like the US Criterion Release, which is Region 'A' Locked, by the way.

Don't think so...

Perhaps it was from the first pressing or something. Either way, I am happy to have it.

Oh wow, I've never seen that. I just read booklet and slipcover and thought of the Criterion disc. Well, definitely a nice find there.

I'd happily take the Criterion to be honest mate, but I'm not paying £100 for something that would no doubt get battered in transit.

Cheers.

I managed to get lucky and got one for £32 including shipping, from a UK eBay seller no less, plus Criterion kindly shipped me the plastic replacement case as well.
Never give up hope!

Did anyone notice some digital issues during the asian restaurant scene/nude romp? It almost looks like interlacing, which I find odd. The picture is beautiful beyond that, just want to make sure it's not just my copy.
Thanks!

Yeah, as is the Don't Look Now slipcover which I did actually see in HMV about a year ago...but I already had the blu-ray by then. Shame they don't print enough of them to last! Saying that, StudioCanal are pretty good with slips these days - especially the Ghibli titles.

could imagine people go more for the Collectors stuff on thess movies. Slipcases, Digipacks , Steelbooks , Boxsets etc..
Very Similiar to Disney and Marvel stuff.
