Sounds like the US Criterion Release, which is Region 'A' Locked, by the way.

Don't think so...

Perhaps it was from the first pressing or something. Either way, I am happy to have it.

Oh wow, I've never seen that. I just read booklet and slipcover and thought of the Criterion disc. Well, definitely a nice find there.

I'd happily take the Criterion to be honest mate, but I'm not paying £100 for something that would no doubt get battered in transit.

Cheers.

I managed to get lucky and got one for £32 including shipping, from a UK eBay seller no less, plus Criterion kindly shipped me the plastic replacement case as well.
Never give up hope!

Did anyone notice some digital issues during the asian restaurant scene/nude romp? It almost looks like interlacing, which I find odd. The picture is beautiful beyond that, just want to make sure it's not just my copy.
Thanks!

Yeah, as is the Don't Look Now slipcover which I did actually see in HMV about a year ago...but I already had the blu-ray by then. Shame they don't print enough of them to last! Saying that, StudioCanal are pretty good with slips these days - especially the Ghibli titles.

could imagine people go more for the Collectors stuff on thess movies. Slipcases, Digipacks , Steelbooks , Boxsets etc..
Very Similiar to Disney and Marvel stuff.

I'd like to see StudioCanal treat more films like they did with their Francis Ford Coppola titles - The Conversation and The Outsiders both have slipboxes and booklets, and Apocalypse Now is my favourite special edition for a film that I own. A shame they skimp a little bit on UK releases - the recent Tati set had plastic cases rather than digipacks from the French release, and Le Jour Se Leve didn't come with a booklet (or 'custom packaging'...presumably a digipack) over here.

Someone told me that this is being reissued in May, with a lavish package ala last year's The Third Man release. I wonder if they've done it in 4K? Or if they've managed to get the rights to the Bowie commentary from the Criterion?

I'm so sad that one of my icons is gone forever, my favorite David alongside Byrne & Lynch.

I will be watching The Man Who Fell To Earth Tonight with a heavy heart.

Heartbreaking news about the death of David Bowie. Truly a genius is every sense of the word. His work transcended almost everything with The Man Who Fell To Earth the greatest of his acting roles.

I too shall be solum when I watch this tonight.

I plan to do the same. He was a genuine genius, in an industry where that label is tossed around far more often than it should be.

Same here. I have 'Merry Christmas' on BD, waiting to be watched, but not The Man Who Fell to Earth. Think I'll break it out tonight, and a bottle of vino. Gutted.
