Default Sci-Fi: Better Served in Film or TV?

That is the question posed here. I think budget-wise the case can be easily made that the genre is served much better in the world of cinema, obviously.

i love scifi in general but i prefer tv series more, when its got 7+ seasons to run its course i think they get a more developed "universe" and characters. and the scifi movies that i like either...
1.) don't get a sequel, while less deserving ones do
2.) they do get a sequel, and its low budget and horrible
im not picky though ill take scifi anyway i can get it, especially on blu

Unfortunately I have to dismiss much of the blog writer's comments to a superficial overview the industry and mixing the numbers.

Film or TV, they're just mediums, the bottom line from a fan of the genre's point of view, should just be how well a story is told.

A well made 2hr movie could be just as effective as a 7 season series and sometimes, half a season is too long for a badly conceived and executed story.

Both mediums have their place.

I couldn't disagree more as I think you can have a just-as-developed universe and cast of characters in film as one can get on a TV show. It all depends on how it is developed, written and ultimately produced.

Cinema and TV are essentially more or less the same art form; they just go about getting to the same result a bit differently.
