So, my first post, and uhm.. Hi!
![]() Yeah, I just got a Playstation 3 (Actually my Girlfriend bought it for me ^^) and I was wondering; you see, i have a rather old but still pretty decent 32'' 720p LCD Screen from Samsung. And i wanted to test out my new found Blu-Ray option... so i was looking around to find the best movie to test this out on (not Planet Earth though) and i was thinking somewhere in the lines of 300 or Ratatouille or something, so i went to read up on some reviews, and i noticed this on highdefdigest.com's review of BD 300. Just set your playstation to output the signal in 720p, then you will be getting the best picture possible with that tv. As for the video codecs, they are used to compress the video signal so that it will fit onto the Bluray disc. They are better than DVD quality. The two that you listed are different types (AVC and VC-1) Neither is vastly superior to the other, just different types. Get Ratatouille, you will be amazed. Just make sure you set your playstation to output at 720p.

Thanks!
ok, so it doesn't downscale to say 480p? or anything? which ofcause would kinda of defeat the purpose of buying blu-ray discs in the first place ![]() Edit: Oh wow! incredibly fast responses! ![]() Yeah, i have HDMI, and i set my PS3 to 720p. Great! that answers my questions alright! i was just a bit afraid of going out and buying a BD movie and finding it to be no real improvement simply because my TV wasnt 1080p ![]() Last edited by Sorlok; 02-19-2008 at 12:44 PM. |

Ratatouille is an excellent choice, as is any Disney/Buena Vista/Miramax film on Blu-ray. Some suggestions:

A movie that's perfect for HD in terms of PQ is:
Pan's Labyrinth! That is if you want something besides a cartoon like Ratatouille. Of course there's a lot more, but you won't be sorry with those to start off. |

Ratatouille is a great film for kids and adults, I was shocked by it and I never watch kids movies. It's a good choice for a High def. movie, quality is fantastic!
