Shout! Factory has added a new SF store exclusive, and also another to the Shout Select line: Bagdad Cafe: The Percy Adlon Collection. It is limited to 1,500 copies. Bagdad Cafe is sourced from a 4K restoration.

Interesting bit of trivia: Bagdad Cafe was a favorite of Akira Kurosawa.

It's a charming and touching little gem.

I mentioned this in the Brain Eaters thread, but there's probably no rush to pick these up as they're not going to be fast sell-outs, and with SF coming out with store exclusives more frequently, it probably wouldn't hurt to wait a month or two for another to pair it with.

I think it's pretty likely. The 4K restoration is of the original German cut, which is what appears to be in this set instead of the 95 minute edit Shout released on DVD before.

SO happy to have Sugarbaby & Rosalie Goes Shopping, such great little films. Amazon Prime is currently streaming them, probably the same masters used in this set.

Shout confirmed on their Facebook page (Shout Select) that it will be from the 4K restoration.

I love Rosalie Goes Shopping! I love Marianne Sägebrecht!
My favorite part is when they are learning English (or any other languages they dubbed it to) and translate "Pregnant" .

This is fantastic! I love Sugarbaby!! This is a dream come true. The trilogy finally on blu and English subs. I looked for Sugarbaby on DVD and they never had English subs. Thank you Shout!! I missed the announcement and received an email this morning. I was at work but I ordered it lightening fast.

Just to chime in since I didn’t see a lot of opinions around, I really enjoyed this release. I had only seen Bagdad Cafe and not even this longer version which is even better. And the other two films are really fun, especially Rosalie Goes Shopping. Sägebrecht is terrific in all three films. (And not to get personal on you folks, but Sugarbaby is quite sexy for those of us who are into the bigger ladies!) There aren’t a lot of extras, but Adlon talking about his career with his kids is really touching.
