BTW Beuwolf is a WB release in the UK so that is not strange.

I wish they wouldn't use same transfer for BD as HDDVD.

Paramount didn't always duplicate the transfers. Some HD-DVDs were VC-1 while the Blu-rays were AVC. They did sometimes throw on lossless audio.

Glades of Glory was supposed to be released with lossless and the HD-DVD doesn't have it.

The copy of Blades BD that was on Ebay confirmed this.

Paramount was about to introduce lossless/LPCM audio on all Blu-rays, and Transformers was going to become the poster child for the limitations of HD DVD.

That threat is why Toshiba had to line up Paramount exclusively so fast, and jarring, at such bad terms.

Yep that's why I hope they quickly go back to that thinking. Wasn't there an interview with their encoding engineers talking about how excited they were to really test the limits of a BD-50? Then a week later the switch happened.
