Pretty solid little thriller. The shots of Detroit are pretty incredible.

I was incredibly impressed with Alvarez's work on Evil Dead (2013) so I was eagerly awaiting his follow up and even more excited when I found out it would star Jane Levy, who I felt gave a knock out performance as Mia.

Just as the review on this site mentions, I felt that the biggest mistake was

Other than that, the film was very effective overall. As to be expected, there were some scenes and situations that were a little ridiculous, but the tone of the filmmaking managed to deliver an engaging 90 minutes that more than delivered on the simple setup of the story.

Also, I was pleased to see that,like the tongue scene in Evil Dead (2013), Alvarez succeeded at making audiences squirm once again. A group of girls in their late teens / early 20s girls were very vocal in the theatre about how uncomfortable they were with the

Hope there will be a commentary on the Blu ray as I would love to know more about the development and production.

I just saw this in a theater with Dolby Atmos, and it was my first time experiencing it. If you can see this film this way, do it. The sound mix is key to establishing, maintaining, and continually building the tension, and the Atmos mix was truly remarkable.

My only major complaint isn't really with the film (although I did find the ending to be somewhat of a clichéd letdown), but with the reviewers--and I've read more than one--who claim that the film piles "twist on top of twist." It doesn't. Some deeply disturbing actions definitely take place, but they're not plot twists; they are only the natural outworkings of the characters' already established natures. But because of the reviews, I kept expecting some out-of-left-field reveal that never came.

I hope Sony has enough sense to let that beautiful poster be the art for a steelbook.

Aside from losing its way a bit in the third act, I liked the movie and I'll be buying it. Just have to hope for that steelbook featuring the theatrical poster art.

Day 1 all day. Love Jane Levy, the girl is talented and beyond beautiful. I would watch anything she is in.

Yes, she is becoming one of my favorites. Also this movie was....... I can't even find the right words for it right now. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Great movie. Saw it in an empty theater (10:45pm showing) at the Orleans Casino in Las Vegas after my friends went to rest. It was a great movie!

My friends saw this, liked it. They're all in agreement. Typical, I catch a dozen crappy flicks with them and miss out on something decent.

Australia seems to be getting it first in a few months. I'll bite.
