I just saw Thousand Year Door in a video I watched yesterday and wondered if Nintendo might revisit it in the near future. Definitely getting it.

I remember watching a playthrough of this many years ago, I know it's a beloved classic among fans and was waiting and hoping for Nintendo to make a port of this at the least. I will be buying and playing actually.

Now do Twilight Princess

Much as I love(d) Thousand Year Door, the original game is in DESPERATE need of a graphical update. It deserves to look as good as Thousand Year Door

I'm saying the original N64 game deserves a remaster over the Gamecube sequel. What are YOU saying?

I really hope they keep remastering Gamecube classic games. Also want Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, Metroid Prime 2 and Pokémon Colosseum and XD.

I see, by original you meant Paper Mario. I thought there was another Thousand Year Door game

In fact, with Super Mario RPG and now this getting a remake, I'm quite surprised the original Paper Mario has been passed over. The gameplay mechanics between the two games are mostly the same, the character designs and the art direction are mostly the same. It should be a no-brainer to remake both games and bundle it as a two-pack

The original Paper Mario will not sell well if they remaster it because it’s already on NSO Expansion Pak.

Mario 3D All-Stars sold well and it was a 3-pack of frickin' ROMs. A fully remastered and graphically updated Paper Mario is bound to sell well even if they're offering the un-remastered N64 original on their subscription service

Agreed. I suspect the remasters of Super Mario RPG and Thousand Year Door are in part to test the waters to see what kind of sales Nintendo can get for turn based Mario RPG's. If they do sell really well, I can see a brand new turn based Mario RPG (maybe a direct successor to the original) eventually being made for the next console. Can't say I've liked the more action RPG direction the Paper Mario series took post-Thousand Year Door. Thankfully, I do think both of these HD remakes will do great sales-wise.

I didn't care for Sticker Star (and never played anything that came after) but in retrospect Super Paper Mario at least had a lot of the feel and charm of the original Paper Mario games, even if the gameplay was a bit different

Pre-orders starting to go up for this and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD. Guess we’ll be getting a new trailer or twitter update soon for the dates.

The original game ran at 60fps on the GCN. This remaster reportedly runs at 30fps. No matter how you shake it, that makes it a downgrade for me. Still looking forward to playing this with my son but this took the wind out of my sails just a bit. It will be interesting when the Switch 2 comes out to see if games like this will automatically run better on the new hardware. Not counting on it, but it would be nice.

Default Paper Mario: TTYD

I'm thinking of getting a Switch 2 for the remaster - the original was one of my favourite games on 'Cube
The story and script were brilliant, I haven't played any PM games after Super Paper Mario as I don't know if they're as good

*were*

I heard they removed the "problematic content" of Goombella getting hit on (and she standing up for herself).

https://www.geeksandgamers.com/ninte...-mario-remake/

The original’s scene dialogue:
Quote:
Goomba: “Hey! Hey, man! What’s up? Who’s the hottie you got there with you?

Paragoomba: “Wassup, baby? Why don’t you hang with us for a while? We play real nice!

Spike Goomba: “Man, what’s a FINE-lookin’ Goomba doin’ with a tubby mustache man like that?!?

Goombella: “Oh, it is, like, SO sweet that you boys think I’m cute! Seriously! Yeah, guys like you make me feel like…TOTALLY BARFING! Now get out of our way!

Goomba: “Ouch that was cold!”

Paragoomba: “What, you’re too good for us? Come off it, sister!”

Spike Goomba: “Nobody zings us like that! Nobody! Let’s get ’em!”
The remake’s scene dialogue:
Quote:
Goomba: “Hey! Hey, man! What’s up? You think it’s cool to just waltz your way into OUR underground?

Paragoomba: “Typical! You surface-level snobs are so stuck-up. ‘OoOoh, I get to see the sun! I like to breathe clean air! OoOoh!’”

Spike Goomba: “Heh! Yeah! Come on over here, scruffy mustache man…We’re gonna teach you some proper manners…

Goombella: “Leave him alone! Can’t two academics and a world-famous hero wander the sewers of a port town in peace? If this is your usual greeting to visitors, then you must have learned it down here…because IT STINKS!

Goomba: “Ouch! That was cold!”

Paragoomba: “What, you’re too good for a fight?! If you ain’t lookin’ to tussle, then stay out of the sewer!”

Spike Goomba: Nobody doesn’t start a fight with us! Nobody! Let’s get ’em!”
Even the original non-localized Japanese script was written to have the Goombas hitting on Goombella, so again, why change it?

I'm so sick and tired of this nonsense.
Add a stupid disclaimer, or simply make it an option.
[x] original content
[ ] snowflake game mode

I wonder what other changes they did. This can't be the only one. It's also so stupid. Female standing up for herself? CAN'T HAVE THAT.

There is one other major change to the English script but it’s a can of worms and God forbid you disagree with it. Should be pretty easy to find with a quick Google search.
