Default Toshiba to announce they are dropping HD DVD

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents

Quote:
Okay... things are moving very fast now. Industry sources are telling us that Toshiba has a press event scheduled for tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday 5 PM Tokyo time), at which they're expected to make the announcement that they're quitting the HD-DVD format. That's just 8 1/2 hours from now. Rumor is that hardware and software sales will be discontinued in early March, but we expect official details soon. We'll post more on this as it comes in.
Can't wait.

These are the time break downs to when it will be announced:

West Coast: 12am(2/19/08)
Mountain Time: 1am(2/19/08)
Central Time: 2am(2/19/08)
Eastern Time: 3am(2/19/08)

More info on time zones timing, thanks to w_tanoto!

...Time difference between Japan and...
Sydney = +2
Queensland = +1
Korea = 0
Singapore / Hong Kong / China / Bali = -1
Jakarta / Bangkok / Hanoi = -2
India = -3.5
Athens = -7
Paris/Western Europe = -8
UK = -9
Quebec = -13
NY/Toronto = -14
Vancouver/Los Angeles = -17

This is probably part of their grand scheme to gain more market share for DUD.

I didn't see it on the other thread. So, thanks for posting, even it's a duplicate--we all want to synchronize our watches and be ready for the complete capitulation party! I hope Tosh is serving food.
