Audio-only bluray discs? - Blu-ray Forum

Do bluray players support audio-only discs?
If so, is the audio uncompressed (like standard audio CDs), or compressed?

I've asked about this myself. I'm not sure if there is anything specifically in the spec about it, but it sure would be nice. 192/24 5.1 surround!

With Sony BMG and Universal Music Group both in the Blu-ray camp you can be sure of audio releases.
The BD specs alone cover all you need for music with 192/24 PCM or DTS-MA through 5.1 and 96/24 through 7.1
I doubt they'll re-release anything available on DVD-Audio or SACD, but you never know.
I look forward to Sony BMG re-releasing Dave Matthews Band's back catalogue on Blu-ray Disc. That will cause a few million rabid fans across the USA to take a much closer look at Blu-ray let me tell you.
