Gutted it isn't getting a 4K release, I feel like telling Second Sight to get back in their car and F off! But seriously, any nice treatment towards this masterpeice is great. Shane Medows had a talk at my local cinema the other week, I'd love to see some of his earlier work with boutique treatment.

Romeo Brass, along with all of the extras mentioned on the ancient DVD's audio commentary that were never actually on the disc, would be a very, very welcome release.

Particularly the footage of Paddy Considine breakdancing in a roomful of OAP's, to the tune of 'Dooh-Wah-Diddy'.

Yeah, a pity there won't be a 4K, but a bluray will still do nicely and will replace my OG DVD. I remember being absolutely blown away by this on first viewing, and it's one of those films I regularly think back on. Will be grabbing this for definite.

"They thought you had butter on your shoes".
A big set of everything up to and including Romeo Brass would be magic. Not sure if BFI still have the rights to Small Time.

A massive shame because what they're not explicitly saying is nobody knows where the original elements are, and that's a symptom of a near silent problem that's going to consign so many indie film to footnotes in history books. That and nobody having a clue which of the patchwork of production and distribution companies still has a legal right to do anything with the films they once made, if the companies even exist anymore.
Glad SS are still going forward with it, they'll give it an edition it deserves.

I was surprised this was the case for a film released just 20 years ago.

TwentyFourSeven seems pretty forgotten as well.

I bought the DVD for the commentary, and it was dire. They spend the whole time pissing about, and questioning whether or not it'll actually be included on the disc.

It does indeed, but it was one of those "I'll wait and see if this is done properly" films so I never bought it. It's a pity it still can't get the full love it deserves, but I hope SS will breathe some new life into a brilliant film, one that every one of my friends watched and loved as much as I did.

I've got a lot of DVDs bought new at the time that are itching for quality upgrades on. Some already exist as blurays or 4k, but not with the sort of care that SS, Arrow et al can give, hence waiting for announcements like this

I too, love the film. My second favourite from Meadows after This Is England.

They tried to get Paddy involved with the This Is England tv series, but they just couldn’t make it work. He is on the deleted scenes in TIE 90 Blu-ray, he is in prison with Combo.

I hope SS include his short film Northern Soul that was on the dvd. I've frankensteined the dvd into the current blu ray at the moment just to have it.
It would be nice to get Shane's World as well that was on the 2 disc dvd of Once Upon A Time In Midlands.
I've always loved these 2 works.

Me and a friend still quote the “What the f**k are you looking at?” scene to this day

Worryingly, and I have to admit I didn’t initially think of this, if they can’t source the original elements for a 4K disc, what are they using for the Blu-ray?

Remember the OCN for Dog Soldiers was AWOL for quite sometime until SS managed to locate it in Europe.

I'd love the same to happen to Dead Man's Shoes aswell.
