Default my theatre, your thoughts.

alright so i have changed directions today and this is what i am thinking about for my sound system, any comments would be appreciated

receiver: integra dtr-5.8 7.1
klipsch speakers: rc-52 center ....... 2 of the rf-62 front ....... 2 of the rs-42 in the back

what do you tech/audiophiles think.....is this gonna produce good quality

p.s. i know i need a better bluplayer to take advantage of the hidef audio! im future proofing for now so..... your thoughts?

The Integra is a great receiver and you will be very happy with it. I personally am not a fan of klipsch, but a lot of people like them. If you have heard them, and compared them against other speakers, and you still like them - they should be fine and work nicely with your receiver. I assume you already have a sub?

It's a fine system (I sold my Heresy's about 8 months ago). Very dynamic, and you went with Integra instead of Onkyo - good move! enjoy!

yeah a definitive technology sub ...... i am not an audiophile and the klipsch sounded great to me in the store, and i had heard that name on this site.
after telling the salesman my current equipment, my price range, and what i wanted as far as future proofing, he immediately brought up onkyo as a potential receiver and klipsch as the speakers which seem to be two names i see all the time recommended on this site.

total it would be JUST over 2000 with tax. so will this produce an impressive sound, and future proof me for when i get a player that can output the hidef audio. and is this a fair price for the 5 speakers and receiver?

Depends on your expectations, some people would find it outstanding while some people would find it quite poor. High end it won't be but you should listen to them first and if they sound good to you that is what matters.Your money after all.

im looking to impress myself and my friends, none of whom are audiophiles, but i would like a audiophile/techy's opinion on the quality of this setup, as far as trained ears go. it sounds good to me, but if theres better options out there for around 2000 lemme know.

I think the receiver is a good deal, and you won't do much better for the money. The speakers are good and play loud. I believe you will be very happy, and will be able to impress you friends.

The only thing I might change is the speakers (I like Paradigm), but either way, you will be very happy.

Also, since you will be using a sub, you could also look at smaller speakers and probably get better quality speakers for about the same money as those floor speakers.

this may be a stupid question but do all blurays have truehd or master audio or only some. these are the only two completely lossless sound types right?

not all BDs have a lossless sound. I have PLENTY that have a DD 5.1 track and nothing else! (curse paramount for using it on the M:I set!)

most disney titles ive seen have a 5.1 PCM track
Fox uses DTS-MA
ive notice warner uses alot of the TrueHD sound

i guess its more or less up to the distributor

OOOOHHHHHH! JM Labs! Which model? 800 series or the Utopias (probrably Utopias considering the rest of your gear)!

The most underlooked compontent in a system is also the largest one...your room. Proper placement and set up can make mid-fi and entry level gear sound tremendous. I have seen a pair properly setup mini monitors with a sub hang with $3000.00 full range speakers. Setup is very important.

Funny you should mention Paradigm's - those were the mini-monitors that I refered to in one of my post

yep i actually plan on spending a ton of time tweaking my speaker/room/furniture setup until i get that "just right" feeling. thanks again for the info guys, so the receiver looks good, speakers not so much?
out of curiosity what paradigms are equal to the klipsch reference as far as price point and quality? if there are any comparable ones i will have to demo them before i commit to these.

with this receiver i don't have to have the coax or optical or whatever for audio......i just need an hdmi? and once i get a better player for the lossless formats i will still only need hdmi.....or is the second cord required?

For speakers, I would definitely recommend auditioning Paradigm or Monitor Audio speakers before you buy. Both offer outstanding sound and build quality for the money.

Personally, I feel the same way about Klipsch. The treble is a bit too harsh and forward sounding for my tastes. It gets to be a bit fatiguing after a while.

What is the total cost for the 5 speaker set (not including sub)?

I'm guessing the equivalent Monitor set would be their Bronze series. The BR5 fronts will run around $750 a pair, the center for about $200, and the surrounds around $260 each. Puts you around $1500 for a speaker setup. Is that in the right range?

I can say from my experience with Monitor (I run a full 5-channel set of their Silver RS series: 2 RS-6 fronts, RS-LCR center, 2 RS-FX surrounds) that their speakers are very, very nice, especially paired up with a Marantz sr7001 receiver.

Excellent suggestion. Just find a place that sells Paradigm and listen to some of the different models. In my opinion, the speakers are the most important part of your theater - much more than the receiver. Plus a good set of speakers will last many years, much longer than a receiver.
