Default dead pixels...

As I was playing ratchet and clank the other day I noticed a pixel that looked white. Just a single pixel at about the center of the screen. I believe these are called dead pixels. Anyways, it's seemed to have started working again, but does anyone know why this happens. I suppose my CC 2 year plan will cover it though if anything major happens. I was amazed at how annoying a single pixel was!

your plan should cover this.

and yes, holy cow, a dead pixel can be annoying. when i got my first tv, there was a single blue dead pixel in the corner, it was so hard to ignore, i took it back 15 min. after opening.

It's weird that it started working again though. This is TV number 2 though. First one my GF smashed while moving with a dolly. Talked CC into replacing it

I don't remember what causes it, but a lot of companies don't consider one to be a major issue and won't do anything for just 1 dead pixel.

often it has to be a certain percentage, a certain total number (which also sometimes varies depending on what color it gets stuck as), or a certain number within a small area.

haha! how dumb is that?!

"oh, theres only a few blue pixels out of all the dead ones. oh.... hmmm, yeah that's not gonna work out. The majority need to be blue. So....yeah" -support center

bajor27 is right, some warranties will indicate exactly how many dead pixels have to be present before they consider it a replacement candidate, unfortunate but true.
