Default How Many Movies in Theaters?

How many movies have you gone to in theaters? In my 25 years on this earth, I seem to have gone to probably about 380 or so by the count I've taken a long time to compile. You can see it on my profile (You'll see I got taken to everything from "The Patriot" to my father when I was still 12 to "The Princess Diaries" by my mother when I was 13. That'll show you how diverse the film resume is.)

Anyway, a bunch of crappy kid (and non kid) movies aside, how many films have you seen in theaters? 200? Over 400?

oh, geez... I couldn't even begin to guess. I've probably seen 200 in just the past 5 years. As a kid obviously not as many, but lifetime... who the hell knows.

I average 4 films a month, sometimes more. I have been doing this regularly since I was 12 (I'm 28) so a rough estimate is 700-800 films. Could be more, could be less. I have all my ticket stubs but I have no desire to go count that massively filled box.

Average of 50-60 a year, and I'm still young! So probably, at the very least, 350 movies in my lifetime.
I know, I'm a little low, but I'm always busy. Thankfully the tickets I've gotten in the past 5 years were all free!

I never thought to count...

At least 100? I really have no clue, to be honest.

Yeah never thought to count all movies combined either. I know some individual film counts but a rough estimate...hmmm. I'd say at least 200. I'm 28 and I don't go as much as I used to when I was a teen or my early 20's so I'm being a bit conservative about it.

Yeah haha, I've been going since I was a little kid so I really have no clue what the exact number is. At least between 100 and 200, I would guess.

I worked projection for almost 5 years, and during that time, I averaged a little over 100 movies a year seen in theater.

Last year was my first year having to pay for movies, and I still got over 60 I think.

So I'd say at least 800-900 lifetime.

I'd have to figure at least 1000+

I worked in the movie theater business for almost 15 years starting with concession person all the way up to GM. I saw an awful lot of movies during those years. The best were those that we in the industry were able to see ahead of time (more than just a couple of days or a week) - trade screenings!

My most memorable was Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - 6 weeks before release!!!(Paramount people flew in for it and there were maybe 6 people that got to watch it)

And Star Trek VI I got to see 6 weeks early too. It was a working print so SPFX weren't done yet.

Lethal Weapon 2 - 4 weeks before release.

The good old days....

Who knows, maybe 1000? I see a LOT of movies.

This year, thus far, I have seen 20 films in the theater. I may just end up seeing another 5-6 this weekend! GOt my free ticket to GI JOE 2, so that is a must!

We didn't get to see them that early, but while our manager was the biggest b*tch I've ever known, the guy that cut the films would always invite us all to watch one of them the night before. I remember every single one of the employees, besides said manager, sneaked back in one night to see TOY STORY 2. It was one of the best nights ever...like we all bonded. And this was after a huge notice from Disney that we were NOT to have any employee showings.

The only thing I hated about that job was ushering. I have literally seen the ending to DRIVE ME CRAZY and MYSTERY ALASKA over 300 times each.

Between 2001 and now I've seen about 900 movies in theatres. The average is 60 movies in a year, sometimes it was more, sometimes less. So ... I think it will be easily 1150 when I count my childhood. I'm 30 now.

I don't go to the cinema as much as I would.
I live in a small town, and I have to take the car to go to the movies; I don't get paid much at work and I'm not always in the mood to spend money.
But, above all, since I live in Italy my cinema is always filled with Italian movies which I hate, and because of that they don't make the movies I want more (for example on the release date they didn't had 'The Master' :/).

Anyway, I'm 28 and I see at least 20 movies in a year in theatres, but I started to do this regularly only a few years ago.
I think the total amount is something between 100-120.

My family barely got by growing up and now I work for a non-profit so don't spend a lot on theater trips. The finances combined with the fact that most of the last 14 years of my life have been spent in a country where the first theater opened about a year and a half ago and that being a $200+ flight from where I live al result in my theater movie count being significantly lower than most of yours despite being 40+ years old.

I've probably been to around 75-100 total in my life counting double features at the drive-in.

most years I go about once a week, so I sure I have seen 1000+. Movies are my vice.
